    Default M2TW on Vista?

I don't know if it's exactly the right forum, but how well M2TW runs on Vista? Any problems?

I have a new laptop, DELL XPS M1710.

2.0 GHZ Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM DDRII -> soon to upgrade to 4GB
    256MB nVidia GeForce 7900GS
    17" monitor

I don't know if this is the right forum either, but my new laptop (also using Vista) is so close to yours I figured I'd tag along on your thread.

    I just got a Dell Inspiron 1720

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (2MB cache/1.8GHz/800Mhz FSB)
2GB Shared dual channel DDR2 SDRAM
    256MB nVidia GeForce 8600 GT
    17" monitor

Anybody know if either of us will have any problems?

I haven't installed M2TW on the laptop yet because I'm picking up my pre-ordered copy of Kingdoms tomorrow and was waiting for that before installing.

So it's basically safe. Kinky then, I'll be glad to enjoy some of my favourite action in the weekends out in the forest.

I might have scared you off M2TW on Vista in the Hardware and Software Forum, but it turned out dodgy RAM was causing my problems, so you should be OK.

You should be fine, I am running Vista and my desktop is a puny (Working in a factory kills your computer budget)

    Athlon Sempron 3000+
    1gb DDR 1 400mhz ram
320 gb HD (The sole reason to upgrade to Vista)
    Geforce FX 6200 GFX card

and I can run it fine.

Running it on Vista just fine here as well.

I only hope adding Kindoms doesn't effect it. Can't imagine why it would but...never know.

You have almost exactly the same thing as I do. I simply have a higher grade video card, 7950 GTX w/512 Meg card memory.

The only trouble I've had was a bad download from McAfee. They sent out a generic message to their users apologizing. But I had to use the system restore feature to back out the faulty program. It was stealing resources in some bizarre way so that when I played M2TW I as getting 'sticky' responses to commands. Bought my laptop in June. If you upgrade to 4Gig of memory, you should have no worries. I only have 2 Gig Ram, but have had no performance problems. But I shut down some things like Google, and Dell Support, and other stuff I don't use when I'm playing the game, out of habit.

VISTA is a memory pig, and I've heard that 2GB Ram is pretty much required for good performance. So any extra should be helpful for you.

Uh, I have 2GB and when playing Medieval 2 in Vista I keep my background programs open, Medieval 2 isn't all that demanding on your RAM.

I've also played games in the vista betza when I only had 1GB RAM and didn't notice any big performance problems in comparison to XP.
Of course you're always better off with 2GB these days.
