Saga of the Green Dragon
Campaign Hard/Medium Battle w/ City mod v2.1, Darth_AI_8.0, RP_modeV1.1

The scouts dismounted and the covered wagons formed a circle and halted. Men and women got out of these kibitka wagons and began preparing tents, yurts, and fires. There was a look of insecurity on the weathered faces of the elderly and a vague understanding of impending doom in the children’s eyes. Huns were advancing from the east, and with Germans to the West, Dacians to the south, and Romans beyond them… these Sarmations were not in a good situation. But as tradition would demand, the King gathered his kinsmen and they took heart in the preservation of the old ways and the strength and guile of the young men.
A young boy, only thirteen, but already a great rider and showing signs of bow-leggedness, scrambled around the grand camp searching for someone.

“Prince, how do you do?”
“I am well elder, what stories will you tell me today?”

The ageless bard put down a old skull he was pondering and turned to the boy. He thought for a bit...

“You are the Prince, I think it is high time for you to learn more about your people’s glory days…”
“Oh no, please not a lecture, I don’t…”
“A story… about great hordes of riders, glorious deeds, and your dynasty.”
“Alright Bard, go on…..”
"We shall begin with the reign of Abeakos."

*This first section will go from 272 BC to 266 BC telling the tale of Abeakos' reign and includes 100 pictures

Nice this seems, tales around a camp fire... Don't forget those steppe wanderers were famous for their hardcore use of good old hemp!

100 pictures, eh? Sounds good, but also sounds like a nightmare for my dial-up. :P

Reign of Abeakos
The Gathering

Summer of 272 BC
High King Abeakos gathers all riders that can be spared at Gava-Yazyga. Messengers are sent to Uspe to recruit Ragon Sauromatae Uaezdaettae, Gava-Roxsalanni to call for foot archers, and Gava-Aursa to find Babai. A Horde is being united… a sea of horsemen, a wave of spears, and a spray of arrows…. That is the vision of Abeakos, and he, as the first High King of this strongly united federation, has called his kinsmen. Great peril lies ahead though, for leaving the steppe camps near undefended to fight for riches in faraway lands against powerful peoples is a gamble… a gamble that may cost the freedom of the Sauromatae….
The plan had been revised over and over… Rastbarag the diplomat would head south to the steppe’s-end-mountains. There he would find the Hayasdan and using diplomacy as a pretext, find out what sort of army the Armenians had… the horsemen of the Sauromatae would unite and ride south until they found the city of the Haikakan and destroy them once and for all.

Abeakos rode for a season with his men, and suddenly things began to foretell a doomed mission… a Maeot raid on his camp… their Chief Ardabur had been watching the prosperous Sauromatae with covetous eyes for a long time and now he chose to strike at their High King …the battle begins

"The High King wasn’t a High King for no reason. Despite his use of Haoma he was a great tactician…"

Abeakos knew exactly what to do. Dividing his forces into two wings his force advanced showering arrows onto the left and right flanks of the enemy.

Victory! Abeakos found Ardabur crushed beneath his own Maeot steed and chuckled. He grabbed the cold head and ripped it off its limp neck. He added another "cup" to his collection. He soon reaches Uspe....

"What happens after that Bard?! Tell me, tell me!"
"Shut up! I mean.... patience Prince... I am getting there..."

Use Photobucket. I've used both, and I like photobucket more, and as far as I know, there isn't a monthly bandwidth limit. If you have to upload 100 pics just for your first chapter, a bandwidth limit isn't going to be a good thing.

One question, and sorry if I sound dumb. How do you have the blue underlined words link to something? I hope you can understand that. I know how to post links, but not links that are different words, like when people say you can find it here and you click here and it takes you to the page. I know you know how, so help a brother out. :)

Oh, and awesome aar so far. This one looks like it will be good. :)

Reign of Abeakos
Fall of Uspe

Winter of 272 BC
Rastbarag examined the wooden wall and then walked towards the gate. Slaves bearing gold and copper from local mines and merchants from further south filtered into Armavir at a steady pace. Armenian spearmen patrolled the streets keeping order in the Hayasdan capital. The garrison was nothing compared to the gathering Sauromatae horde. He was delighted to see that this was the only city of the Armenians; perhaps his High King would be able to crush them after all…
Sauromatae Fat Aexsdzhytae and Ragon Sauromatae Uaezdaettae join the horde… Uspe is growing more prosperous with the development of Hauuon Huym (farms) but there is no mnai in Abeakos’ coffers… he is in debt and thus he is seized by an increasing sense of urgency to conquer… to sate his men’s thirst for women and wealth…

Summer of 271 BC
The horde is united and the seasoned Fat Aexsdzhytae of the last battle were garrisoned in Uspe to take the place of the Sauromatae riders who would be needed in the fight against the Hayasdan. But on the horizon is an army of Gargars! The archers from Gava-Roxsalanni frantically rush to Uspe upon hearing the news… a messenger approaches the High King with the news but Abeakos does not tell his men….
If the Sauromatae are to see glory and greatness, they cannot stay on the steppe and fight petty wars and execute small raids forever. If Uspe falls, so be it… the High King presses on, moving his horde south as if nothing is wrong….

Narek of the Gargars was no fool, he had been watching Uspe for some time, and knew the King was well on his way south… Uspe was defended by a small group of archers, his men could tear them up, but to be safe, he rushed upon the straggling archers outside of town, defeating them and chasing them towards Uspe… while driving all herders and farmers into the terrified community… The Gargar army then sweeps down upon the frightened village and takes it with little difficulty.
Captain Saupharnes of the Roxsalanni Fat Aexsdzhytae and Captain Pharnurgos of Uspe fought to the end but despaired as their men were cut down by fierce cavalry…

Abeakos is now at the foot of the steppe’s-end-mountains… he dismounts and looks about, his scouts tell him the pass is safe from bandits and Armavir is just to the southeast, beyond this great wall of stone, ice, and crumbling earth…. Rastbarag sends word to his King that the garrison in the enemy capital is being expanded

”Those bastards!”
“Indeed, but I am not done… and neither was Abeakos”
"Does he conquer Armavir?!"
"DO NOT... I mean, please do not interrupt me..."
"Yes yes, go on elder..."

thanks everybody! so far I have the story and screenshots of all of Abeakos' reign... I am just going to upload them, take a break, write it up, and then upload some more... basically splitting up the tedious work into chapters
as you can see... Part 1, chapters 1 and 2 are done ...meaning there are 5 more, part 1 has 7 chapters

replace my { with [
and my } with ]
{url=www.whatever-you-want-it-to-be.com}click here{/url}

so it'll look like

of course www.whatever-you-want-it-to-be.com doesn't exist

EDIT:
if you want it to link to an image put in the URL of that image
if you want the image to be a link put something like this:
{url=www.whatever-you-want-it-to-be.com}{img}https://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5995/muaythaikg9.gif{/img}{/url}
so that it looks like this:

if you want it to be a thumbnail (small image-link to a big image link, simple put the larger image's URL in the [url] part

though that's not a good example of a thumbnail since its not a smaller version of the image but you get the point

and no i don't do muay thai, i do kung fu

Awesome, thanks for your help!

And I'm enjoying your aar very much! I especially like how you gave the titles some pictures too ( I was thinking of doing the same thing....I was also thinking of adding some real-life pictures a'la Chirurgeon).

but that'll be up in a day or two

EDIT:
I am very tempted to press ~ and type in "add_money 40000" cause times are rough, but I haven't yet and I said I wouldn't

Don't fall to the darkside K. Resist the temptation! I have ruined many a campaign by cheating and the results where always corrupted, disloyal, lazy, generals. Beware!!!

I know, I've done it before...
and whenever i didn't cheat, the end was always more rewarding... and battle hard-fought and won when every thing mattered a lot more cause there was no back up

actually the campaign is going better now... I'm not as dead as I seemed for a bit, but you will all see what happens

Go to the EB data folder, open Preferences.txt. Then find the show arrow markers thing, and type in FALSE. Or i think its Disable unit arrow markers, in which case, make it TRUE. whatever, just find the arrow marker thing, and change it lol. Makes the pictures much nicer

The wierd thing is that I've done that (and turned off banners and turned on minimal ui), but it won't work. I've made sure I saved it, and doublechecked by closing it and reopening it...everything is right in the preferences....but they're still there. Do I have to delete map.rwm or something?

It wont let me save over the original desc.txt file or whatever so you have to rename the modified one, delete the original, and then rename the new one to the original. It worked for me...It makes battles look much better :)

There are two versions of the preferences files. One for vanilla and one for EB. Make sure you change the one in the EB file.

naw im still using XP

I think he meant you were running off of vista because vista won't let you change text files until you go into properties and do something. I have vista on my laptop, and R:TW works fine, but I still don't care for it much. It will blow XP away in a few years when all of the bugs are worked out, but for now, it sort of sucks.

Did you tried to restart EB completely after you changed the preferences otherwise it won't work I had it when I changed it it took me hour to figured that out
