Does anyone have a source for information regarding the advancement of Apache Technology? The Building Browser doesn't appear to display more advanced settlements, and only shows the current level of buildable structures in my campaign.

Most of the advanced apache buildings and units require you to win battles and train lots of units. You have to beat horses and guns on the battlefield to unlock them. To unlock advanced infantry and archers, you have to win 10field battles and train 50 infantry and archers, respectively.
Just how many years does it take to build some of those wigwams?

To get access to higher level units do this
Indian hunters 1: train 20 missile units and capture 5 regions
Indian hunters 2: train 50 missile units and capture 10 regions
Indian raiders 1: train 20 infantry units and win 5 battles
Indian raiders 2: train 50 infantry units and win 10 battles
Indian horses 1: 10 * defeat army with cavalry
Indian horses 2: 20 * defeat army with cavalry
Indian horses 3: 30 * defeat army with cavalry
Indian gunners 1: 10 * defeat army with gunpowder units
Indian gunners 2: 20 * defeat army with gunpowder units

when you say 50 arhcers and 50 infanty, what units are they? are archers dogs or rabbits or both? for infanty is it thoose medic men or scouts or the braves?
It says missile units and infantry. Every unit has a type like mêlée or missile. So for missiles you have to train archers or javelins and for infantry you have to train mêlée units.

At Hard/Hard here was my timetable:
Hunter's Wigwam (Dog Soldiers) about turn 10
Raider's Wigwam (Apachean Scouts) about turn 20
Hunter's Longhouse (Koitsenko's) about turn 25
Horse Trainer's and Gun Trader's Tipi(Mounted Apaches, Thunder Braves) both at turn 37
Horse Trainer's and Gun Trader's Wigwam(Mounted Thunder Braves) both at turn 38
Horse Trainer's Longhouse at turn 43
Raider's Longhouse (Onde's Men) about turn 55
I got the gun and horse buildings fast by driving the French out of Florida and calling a Warpath against the Spanish in Vera Cruz.
Thanks for the responses. Now I must train more units, win more battles, and avenge the foreigners' insults of the Great Spirit with destruction!![]()

i have 12 settlements around 70 of dogs and 60 of rabbits and im still not getting the unlock thing. is there any other requiements? do i need to get horses first or somthing? please help
You won't unlock the raider wigwam until you have built enough infantry, but you ought to have the hunter longhouse.
this is really irritating... after i spammed archers i still dont get the upgraded one

I think I am on about turn 25 got the raider wigwam for Dog Soldiers.
It seems a bit of annoying system to me. I appreciate they wanted it to be different and not based on building up cities which seems sensible. However must be a better metric.
Having played the Apaches I think they have missed an oppertunity here. There are no merchants as far as I can tell. Which is a bit annoying as you loose out being unable to trade fur or anything with other nations.
Anyone else finding the battle a rather frantic system of hoping your lads can swamp the enemy and try and get something round to out flank them.
I find the battle with the natives are heavy casualties as a lot or archers and no armour.
Against European foes their armies are obviously much better and I have to hope to get a flank of to roll up one of their wings before their cavalry hits.
Anyone got any suggestions?
a very anti-turtle system i see
As in you have to be agrressive and build and win battle to get anywhere. Yep true. But your income is also so poor it promotes an aggressive stance.
I think it is an interesting idea and could be partially used in a normal campaign for elite units. Add the building of x number of basic units as an addition pre-requisit to the the build of a structure for the elite units or something like that?
Could work with a Rome mod. Have to build x number of hastatii before you get princeps and so on...
In a Rome mod the feature requiring military contact to initiate tech diffusion could be used as well.
