I think I am on about turn 25 got the raider wigwam for Dog Soldiers.

It seems a bit of annoying system to me. I appreciate they wanted it to be different and not based on building up cities which seems sensible. However must be a better metric.

Having played the Apaches I think they have missed an oppertunity here. There are no merchants as far as I can tell. Which is a bit annoying as you loose out being unable to trade fur or anything with other nations.

Anyone else finding the battle a rather frantic system of hoping your lads can swamp the enemy and try and get something round to out flank them.

I find the battle with the natives are heavy casualties as a lot or archers and no armour.

Against European foes their armies are obviously much better and I have to hope to get a flank of to roll up one of their wings before their cavalry hits.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

As in you have to be agrressive and build and win battle to get anywhere. Yep true. But your income is also so poor it promotes an aggressive stance.

I think it is an interesting idea and could be partially used in a normal campaign for elite units. Add the building of x number of basic units as an addition pre-requisit to the the build of a structure for the elite units or something like that?

Could work with a Rome mod. Have to build x number of hastatii before you get princeps and so on...

In a Rome mod the feature requiring military contact to initiate tech diffusion could be used as well.
