Thread: Extracting from EB .81a v2

Default Extracting from EB .81a v2

I've downloaded the install file and when I start the install it tries extracting all the files to my C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data directory. Now my C drive has about 200 meg free on it and freeing up space is not an option. That 200 meg is after I've moved everything I could to another drive (My c drive is only a couple gig). Now my D drive has 30 gig free and my E drive has 20 gig free. Is there any way to get EB to extract to somewhere besides the C drive?

Note, I'm talking the initial extraction of files here. I can't get to the point where I can specify where to install since the program won't let me extract all the files to somewhere they'll fit in.

I think it automatically goes to wherever Windows sends temp files. You may be able to change it in Windows, but not in the extractor.

Open the EB installer using 7-zip and extract the files where you'd like. You'll need to create the shortcut manually.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

HAHAHAHAHA. Before I posted I tried opening in winzip but I didn't think of trying 7-zip and I didn't see that 7-zip was used while searching the forums. So after I posted I then spent a half hour moving the entire documents and settings folder to the D drive & playing in the registry, which seems to have worked in a very pain in the neck kinda way. I decided to come check this topic while the installer was going now that it had enough HD space and post my solution in case anyone else needed it. Turns out I should have just waited around since bovi provided a much much easier answer. Oh well, at least I won't have this problem with any future software I guess.

Thank you for the reply though, especially so quickly. Nice to know it's possible to get accurate tech help even as I'm bumbling around with my own overkill solutions.
