    Default Witing for 1.6

I just gave up my teutonic campaign because of the "balanced" units:

As you see this unit has a shield oh wait it doesn't...

But this unit has no shield oh wait it has.

Who decides on the invisible shields and the visible non existent shields?

If a discrepancy between a number on a form and a picture ruins a game for you, then all i can say is.... well, actually i dont know what to say.

Iqta'Dar have got visible (but somewhat tiny) shields and haven't got any shield points either.
It think it's just an oversight.

Haha, they finally get the Umlaut and the German -er plural right, but write "Knechte" declinated :P

So your waiting for EB 1.0 last 2 years 'cos the units in Rome weren't historicaly accurate was justified but not my rant. Here's to you Dayve...

The mistakes (and deliberate fictions such as the cannon elephants) ruin the immersive feel of the game for me. Given the enormous increases in computing and graphics power in the intervening years and the time to improve the AI, M2TW should be much better than MTW, but it isnt.

In Americas Campaign it's also whimsical. The Chicimecs have shields but get no bonus while their neighbours the Tarascans get the shield bonus while the shields look exactly the same. Hmmm the only explanation I can come up with is that my warriors bear shields made of cheese (brie?) to fool their enemies. Lame really

??? You must have me confused with someone else - i've never played EB, and i'm not really one of those people who is obsessed with historical accuracy.

Also, i cant figure out what that stereogram is supposed to be - looks like some sort of cave or something... but at least i have a headache now, so that's good.

Anyhow, it wasnt the rant that i was commenting on, so much as quitting an entire campaign because a picture doesnt match a number. With all of the bugs in the total war series over the years, if details that small annoy you that much i'm amazed youre still buying the games. I thought it was a given that to be a fan of the series you have to have a relaxed attitude to things like this. Otherwise its kinda like going to rap concerts every weekend even though you hate rap music.

While it doesnt "ruin" my game experience, i feel its sad not to have accurate unit stats. While we could of course mod the game, i hope we'll have those units corrected in the next patch.

Nah, some clever forum member will come along and mod the game and correct inaccuracies.

then post a link to his mod in his sig and wear it like a badge. Then other posters will extoll his prowess as a modder and how he enhanced the game.

This is how the PC gaming industry works now, they get the games playable and for the most part solid, paying customers then finish it for them. Its perfect really when you think about it, posters can become legends with a simple "2 handed fix" mod, and the developer gets the bump from thier work, and to top it off they paid for the product first before modding !

Of course it also stems from people buying product at release with the expectation that the above paragraph was fulfilled by the developer. Its as plain as the nose on my face, customers are rewarding incomplete games with thier purchase at release.

There are few things more annoying than some idiot who has never done anything trying to say definitively how something should be done.

Working as a software programing team manager, i can understand that bugs and issues are unavoidable for multiple reasons. While the unexpected error, or hidden one is hard to avoid, some obvious errors are sometimes not corrected, even if the developpment team has identified it.
Developpers are constantly under pressure, with very short delays, and if I have to choose between correcting an obvious error and adding a major feature (even if uncomplete) i'll choose not to correct the bug if the testing team hasnt seen it.
In fact just today i've told one of my team members not to spend the two days required to correct a bug until the testing team sees it, because if he did correct it, we'd be late for our next release, and my boss would hit me in the face :)

Anyway, here i'm a "user" or costumer, and i sure would like a perfect product. I dont expect a perfect game, and hell i'm glad to have paid 30 euros for that game i'll play hundreds of hours even despite the bugs, and there is NO game on the market that comes close to the Total War series.
But please CA, correct that bug :)

    See for yourself.

    2 more:
Venetian Pavise crossbow militia (Crusades campaign) don't have shields (should have them), but have the shield bonus.
Greek Fire-throwers have a shield bonus of 5, but no shield (and shouldn't have one)

A bit off topic but you started it... So? What is the stereogram actually meant to be?

    A couple of guesses:

    a) the pink one from the Monster Munch, sticking his tongue out while holding his mouth open with his hands.
    b) a gentlemen bending forwards with his hands holding his brown eye open.

    I'm stumped.

I think some of the txt files are a bit off, as the welsh I can build three cannon factories:

    first :

    3x bombard

    second:

    3x bombard
    3x mortar
    3x organ gun

    third:

    3x bombard
    3x mortar
    3x mortar
    3x culverin

    notice something weird?

Also as the teutonic order the mangonels disappear with the siege building that can build trebuchets.

    Looks like option "b".

This isn't really an appropriate place for solicitation, Gaius. Kids here and all. But don't worry, you'll find someone.
