Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.

Finally, his lifetime ban from Chicago's Lyric Opera is over. Sad day, though.

Apparently he could sing, to be honest I've never been a big fan of classic music but I know the song in prole's link I think.

I've slowly been gaining more of a taste for opera and classical music. This man has moved me closer to it.
R.I.P.

A true inspiration to all musicians, whose influence will greatly outlast his life. May he rest with the knowledge that he has changed the world for the better.

I am a big fan of classical music and I am sad such a great voice has been silenced.Originally Posted by Husar
As a tenor I tend to look for role models or great singers that you can have as idols.
Pavarotti is not the one I admire the most but he was high up on the top 10 list.
Nessun Dorma is a great aria and was Pavarotti’s signature song.
I had the pleasure to play in the Opera where this aria is sung (Turandot – I was the palace guard on the right side of the great staircase where this aria is performed [the things we do to impress girls]) and it is the one song the audience is waiting for.
Pavarotti did this aria well. **RIP**
