I'm currently being influenced by the works of Ivan D. Illich, with regards the energy crisis, which has completely changed my view on the global warming issue and how to tackle it.
Funnily enough, the first time in 8 years that I have heard mention of his name. Shame that he is so neglected.

    * orders a specific South African "port" (may not be called port as such, hence it is called a fortified wine) from the Stellenbosch area, near Cape Town, South Africa. Goes by the name of Gabriela. *

I am Albert. Live nowhere at the moment. Currently residing as a tourist in South Africa, with my South African girlfriend; originally I am from the Netherworlds (or lands if you prefer). Spending my time by helping out an NGO.

Have a degree in Psychology, but hate the whole academic approach, as it is more often than not harmful for the people involved, instead of helping them; with the exception of clinical brain research-based research. I would be hard-pressed to be positive about the other branches in the discipline.

Only need to write one more paper and I will have a degree in Philosophy as well. Should happen in the next 12 months.

Have a ton of interests. Ranging from history, physics, literature, to name just those I like to read about. Can read 16 hours a day, without break and without losing sanity. People think I am insane when I do all kinds of complicated math problems for fun.

Playing EB not too much in South Africa (laptop-dependent) but before that, I managed to play quite a few campaigns to an end; mostly of the Hellenic factions.

Hello all, I'm Jonathan, 20 going on 21, from Singapore. I'm in the army at the moment doing my two years of compulsory national service (a la Israel), but this ends in three months. After that I will be studying History at York University on a teaching scholarship, and returning to teach new young innocent generations about legions and Celtic soapmakers. I wish. My actual teaching syllabus will be all modern; stuff like the Cold War, World War II, and so on. So much more boring and tedious than the cut-and-dash lifestyle of the ancient world, where you could be skewered on a pike in a blink of an eye.

I've got a family of four, I'm the eldest son there, with a younger brother. Have been happily attached for a year and a quarter, and I converted my girlfriend over to EB early on, so that's a really big patch of common ground we now have.

*stares at empty glass, and orders something from the bartender involving curacao and creme de menthe*

Who's that standup guy on the stage? He's not funny at all! Boooo! :) A drink for him, none the less. *hands him a martini*
let me buy you a drink john, i just flew back to england from singapore today. it was my first visit, loved it.

i was very pleased to see guiness does fairly well out there. in england most of the guiness that is drunk is the draught kind, but i actually prefer the strong bottled stout that seems prevelent in singapore.

My name is Lars, I'm 26 years old. I live in Wuppertal, a city in the west of Germany. I study law *big yawn* in Cologne, but the beer I like is certainly from Düsseldorf.

What, you don't have Altbier here? What kind of tavern is this?

I've always been interested in history, in the antiques especially and also in the 18th and 19th century. I'm looking forward to ETW. What I also like are plains, airports and the whole aviation stuff. There are no machines in the world more beautiful than aircrafts. Besides that I take courses for Spanish language here at my local education system. I'm studying it for six years now but I'm still unable to use it properly.

Besides of that I'm totally addicted to EB. I like it especially from midnight to 4 or 5 in the morning. I like sleeping from 5 to 2 in the afternoon if university allows. Why do people want to get up at 8 in the morning? *shivers* I think mankind is just stupid.

I hope I can be a writer one day don't have to do a tedious job. Better don't take away my illusions.

*searching for horstnordfink* How comes a Horst lives in England? That seems a bit weird to me.

I am the drunk in the corner of the bar, who has been through hell and back, not in a physical sense like going to war or the like, but one who has started a business, and failed twice, went through bankrupty and a foreclosure on my home, one who is not so happy in his life now, one who is 38 years old and just feels like giving up half the time. Married and has a son, who he loves dearly, not so happy in marriage though. Probably older then most here but still not embarrassed. I started playing video games with pong back in 1977 when I was like 8 years old. I then advanced to Intellivision and Atari, though Intellivision Football was my favorite. I have always played baseball in many different formats like playstation and PC, I am a really great fan of EB, I check this forum out every day and look forward to every post and update.

I am a happy person, just gone through a rough patch in life, a little bitter right now. But I'm sure things will get better.

Don't mean to ruin the post but if anyone is going through rough times right now I might be able to help, or if anyone is thinking of starting a business I could probably help out.

    Cheers.

Also from Ontario CA USA, originally from San Diego CA. I usually only post when I have been drinking, probably not a good habit but who cares.

Hmmmm, I actually know how you feel.

I've never started a business, but I do know what it's like to be broke....really broke.

Hang in there, guy. Things always get better. When you feel down, just look at your son, you'll feel better.

More ranting from myself . I go to Gamefaqs and have a membership there . I use the boards frequently . I know a member of EB's awesome team over there . Thats why there is alot of inside puns and stuff you probably don't get when me and TPC post to each other .

Now there is a board called WOT , use to be War on Terrorism . That board is one source of all the scum of the universe . Its got an asian supremest that honestly makes me wish I could borrow the time machine and seriously mess up Asia during the early 1900s (like nuclear destruction . I'm sorry but this guy pisses me off sooo....bad) just so he would shut the hell up . Its got a myriad of other ****ed(can we say the f-bomb?) up users as well .

I will admit I get involved in some of the debauchery but I do it cause I'm more trolling then anything . Some people there are serious . I know a few that would lynch our resident Roman fanboy(zara something) cause of his political beliefs .

I'm sorry for any racism but I'm about to go rich black prat on his ass if it keeps up and take a nice purge over there .

Oh and I happen to find U.S history interesting when it involves all the political circle jerks , back stabbings , underhanded details and things like that . That is interesting stuff cause some of the stuff carries so far . Stuff that happened in Jacksons reign for instance had a hand in starting the civil war .

Anyway some black dude who thinks he is hardcore for taking a sociology degree is wtf pwning him . He isn't much better cause he is an angstheist to the max . I'm personally a don'tgivearatsenese that means if god didn't exist I wouldn't care . If he did exist I wouldn't care .

Im stefan, 25, studied economics and running my own company with 20 employees atm. (yes, working 12-14 hours a day is fun ) and, well, you may have guessed it, im from bavaria.

    *takes a deep sip*

hobbies are weightlifting, cycling, drawing, reading (everything related to history and philosophy - Camus ftw!), pc gaming and getting seriously drunk with my friends at weekends...and if sleep deprivation can be considered as a hobby, im having that, too.

    *burps* Sorry...

Came to EB when the version number read .7 (or somfink) and its really fascinating to see how the vision of the dev team is getting in its final shape, great job guys!

Why are you all standing around the bar? It's getting too crowded over there, this fine pool table is going to waste, such a well-crafted piece very fitting to this old one horse pub.

If this keeps up, we may all have to donate a little bit to Bootsiuv and help him make some extensions out the back, maybe turn the alley outside the backdoor into a BBQ area..

There are many who are interested in philosophy here.. Though most seem to have very contradicting hobbies along with them.
I know a very fitting song for a group of avid philosophy scholars discussing Camus in a small bar.

Hello everyone, I'm Xin Ni from Singapore, 18 this year come November 15, and I'm still in school. Taking my 'A' levels this year, and was introduced to EB sometime last year by way of pezhetairoi.. I didn't actually know enough history to do more than dislike it mildly as a compulsory subject, but I'm getting to like it in this form. Hobby-wise, I enjoy reading and gaming mainly, with some writing on the side..

That's about it, I suppose. o_O And the last time I drank alcohol, it was beer with Sprite, so.. *orders a nice cold glass of milk* Yum.
