Well I know on my old PC that the game often took that long to load screens. So if your machine is somewhat older and/or has lower-end specs, it's entirely possible to have longer load times like what you've mentioned.

Otherwise, though, people have experienced problems with MTW having long loading times, even on newer/high-end machines. If this the case for you, then I suggest you check out this post I sticked to the top of the Main Hall. It includes a couple different solutions to try. And if nothing else, you can always post your problem in the Apothecary and see if the guys there can help you out.

Either way, I wish you luck!

    2GB 667mhz RAM

It sounds like there's something wrong then because i play MTW in a machine of much lower caliber and it loads in seconds.

Sometimes my laptop (2.4) runs a bit slow loading, but normally it´s fast. It happens usually when I´ve multitasked, apparently some residual stuff stays in.

I also find the game slower after many many turns have passed. "Thinking" (campaign map) time increases a lot, as more provinces are involved.

I'm talking about loading the campaign after a battle, and loading the battle during campaign. Not the AI turns, they go pretty fast.

I just tested it on my brothers computer:

    512mb RAM
    pentium 1.8ghz
    Radeon 9200

And the loading started instantly (loading took about 10 to 15 seconds)
See, its not like the loading takes a long time, the problem is that the loading bar doesnt start to turn red for 45 seconds. Once it starts it takes about 10 or 15 seconds to load.

Try adding an empty text file named skipcredits.txt to the Medieval - Total War folder. That will stop the intro movies from running, which often speeds things up quite a lot.

I'm going from memory here, and it was quite a while ago, but I seem to remember a series of threads in the hardware section that indicated this issue was ingrained in the newer ATI Radeon series of video cards (x1800 and newer). You might check in the Apothecary or Hard-and-Software sections for more up-to-date info.

    Good luck!
