Default The Birds & the Bees--Teutonic Style!!!!

    Dear All:

Good morning from Canada!!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

I guess this depends on the company who develops and puts out the game. As I heard about the Teutonic Campaign for Kingdoms, they didn't have time for wives and children, ergo, in another strategy game I play, Knights of Honor, they DO have time for wives and children. I'm always hoping for princes when I play that game. Knights of Honor is put out by Paradox.

The question for debate is: Who has the better grasp on history--Knights of Honor or Medieval II?

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

Well considering that full members of the Teutonic order where supposed to be celibate then I think CA have it right in this case.

Or at least, so I have read...

I know that according to some document I found when I googled this, only the "inner circle" of knights in the Teutonic Order were bound to celibacy. Thus wives and children would have been possible, but no dynasties since the leaders would obviously belong to said inner circle.

Bastards are always an option though...

    Dear All:

Good evening from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

I read somewhere, whether it was here or in some promotional stuff for Kingdoms that the Teutonic Order didn't have time for wives or children. Take heart, I've all wet about things before.

I was just wondering who was closest to the real history of the Middle Ages pertaining to the Teutonic Order.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

Everyone has their own style, just welcome him in true .ORG fashion. If he doesn't break the rules, he can do what he likes in terms of post content.

And it would be no use for Teutonic knights to get children, they should have to earn their place in the Order, which could take lots of time...

Like a "bastard" trait that gives a hefty hit to authority?

Hang on so a thread with a title "The birds and the bees" doesn't get locked by now although your not allowed to say "this sucks". I'm really confused.

it seem reasonable.. but germans could get jealous because one baltic bastard suddenly becomes their general so command is always zero no matter of how many great battles bastard is winning..

I think that new members of family should be aquaired by adoptions only. You need to prove yourself that youre worthy to recon, so no 16,18,20 years old members and the option to choose your grand master should be in the game.

    Dear All:

Greetings from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

For openers, Lobo, I've always written my posts this way. Yes, I'm trying to be friendly. I'm not going to change. I'm not doing anything wrong, like breaking the rules, so why should I?

Secondly, thank you ever so kindly, Evil Maniac from Mars, for riding to my rescue. Actually, I've been kicked off one website for writing just like this. I do get my revenge, though, by swiping their walkthroughs every time I buy a new adventure game.

I also thank all and sundry for their compliments on my post writing. I like giving people a laugh.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

(for the short answer read the last line)

The Knights of the Order were bound by the same rules as clergy... poverty, chastity, obiedience, etc.

HOWEVER, one thing that usually gets lost is that the number of actual sworn Knights was a tiny portion of the armies. For example, the ~2000 strong Tuetonic force at Peipus had only 20 actual Teutonic Knights. At Tannenburg, of the 25,000 men the Order brought, only ~2000 were actual full fledged Brother-Knights. For every sword brother knight you had a bunch of knights who served the order but were not actual sworn Brother-Knights.

So basically Knights of the Tuetonic order could marry and have children unless they were actual knights of the order... ie Sir Loin of Ham, of the house of Ham, who served the Order could have a bunch of bouncing baby squires, but Sternly Von Frownenstien, Brother-Knight of the Order could not.

Sooooo ... the idea of TK princes is not very accurate.
