    Default Spys among us

Seriously after getting bombarded with spyware on the org it gets a little tiring. Please, is there ANYTHING the mods can do about this?

A browser is the program you use to view the internet. Examples would be: Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc.

    Hi K COSSACK,
To block pop-ups on Internet Explorer, you have several choices. You can either download a toolbar, such as the Google Toolbar, or you can use the integrated pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, the integrated pop-up blocker is not available in IE 6.0 Service Pack I (with Windows XP SP1), sorry. If you have IE 6.0 Service Pack II (with Windows XP SP2), then simply follow these instructions for a pop-up free experience.

Firstly open up Internet Explorer and then point to the "Tools" menu.

When on the tools menu, point to "Pop-up Blocker" and then select to "Turn Pop-up Blocker On".

If you wish you could also try a different browser all together. Firefox 2 is a popular alternative which come with a fully functioning pop-up blocker. It also has a multitude of modifications which can easily be installed upon it. I advise AdBlock+, for blocking annoying internet advertisements, and NoScript, for preventing malicious scripts running upon your PC.

Hope this helps, good luck, cheers!

BTW, to remove any spyware or viruses you have, please feel free to download AVG Anti Spyware and AVG Anti-Virus. They are very useful tools for removing those annoying tracking cookies and pieces of spyware from your PC.

    Hello K COSSACK,

The only downside I noticed is that some intranet sites insist on I.E. (though some insist on non I.E.). FireFox is a solid browser.

No real downsides; firefox is simply better overall. There are a few archaic sites which hate it, as Tosa said, but the extension IE-tab offers a quick way around this regardless

If you stick with IE (as you should) then do what Omanes has said. Or get IE 7.0

Blasted Tabs, but no pop-ups, no toolbars and no speaking ads. Works.

If you are in doubt over which browser to select K COSSAK, then this article may be able to help you out. It summarises the advantages and disadvantages of Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 and from there concludes which one is the better overall. In addition this individual review of IE and this individual review of FireFox also may help you.

The savvy solution is to browse the intranet with IE and the internet with Firefox... it is a better solution as it also means you have browser redundancy. You will still need IE working to validate at MS though...

Unless your employer forces you to, there's no reason to use IE over Firefox. When I'm navigating around (Windows) Explorer, I miss having tabs, mouse gestures, customisable menus and options, add-ons, etc. I went through a phase of looking for a file manager that gave me the options that I had grown accustomed to in Opera and Firefox, until I concluded none of them were satisfactory. I recently found something called Notepad++ though, which is Notepad with tabs and a few other features.

Are there any file managers that offer the features I note above with minimal overhead? I've tried Total Commander, 2explorer, and a few others, with AC Browser probably the pick of the bunch. Still no mouse gestures though (something that irked me about Thunderbird also).

I have the old IE with medium security settings and no addons, and I have never had problems. I think it has a lot to do with you security system, perhaps more so than your browser.

I hope mozzilla can block this, but deleting it would be WWAAYY better.

But guys plz note that I want to delete this spyware and if mozilla can find it (or block it) i'll get it.

Try one of those three should find the problem. I've used Adaware before it's pretty good the other two I haven't.

From first hand experience Ad-Aware does have a nasty side-effect of sometimes screwing up the registry.
