Thread: Suicidal Viceroys -- Spanish Achilles' Heel?

Default Suicidal Viceroys -- Spanish Achilles' Heel?

Perhaps someone who is familiar with playing the Americas campaign as the Spanish can answer this question.

When I played as the Chichimecs, the Spanish were #1 in military, and then suddenly and mysteriously they disappared.

Now I am the Mayans. The Spanish were again the top military power. I was holding off several Spanish stacks when suddenly an isolated stack, headed by Viceroy Pedro, came into my lands. I lost a close battle to this stack but killed Pedro. No more Spanish!

I reloaded a saved game to confirm that the Spanish had other named characters heading their armies. Apparently, though, they had no faction heir.

If this is usually the case, then the way to beat the annoying Spanish is just to go after their faction leader.

My question is this: when you play as the Spanish, are you without a faction heir at the start, and for how long?

usually for me the Viceroy just sits in Cuba where no-one can get him and yes as the Spanish you start off with two family members and some generals but I got heaps of adoption offers so I ended up with a huge family tree quite quickly, unfortunately Hernan Cortes can nver be adopted

Actually, I only think you have the faction leader and heir. Other "Named" generals you see are "conqistadores", not part of the royal family, but equals to "generals" in normal m2tw (not the captains, but the generals)

You still have a family tree just like M2 but the new generals that appear are just generals (or coquistadores as they are called) but it is still possible for your faction leader and heir to have children and adopt

Happened with me as well (playing as Apache). Could it be script error? Like the spanish does not get a faction heir? Actually, has anyone seen them to survive after the british arrive?

They survived the British with me, and then the turn I won, they dissapeared. No "faction destroyed", just everything turned rebel and they were no longer existant.

Buying one of their leaders led to a "Dances with Wolves" situation: He went native ^_^
