Well, from what I read it comes down to pressing a single button anyway and even works while moving or so. I'll wait and see. But the game could be very impressive anyway.Originally Posted by Bijo

I wish they'd have the guts to make an all-new title for the game though. Sure, it's nitpicking. But what has this game got to do with Far Cry at all? What's the point in calling this one Far Cry 2 if not to promote a recognisable brandname?
I know, it's a pet peeve of mine. I just hate seeing every second game and almost all major games nowadays being sequels, certainly if in this case there's no good reason for it. It's even worse than in movies, though that's steadily getting worse.

Maybe they will make it more realistic by installing more sophisticated movements/gameplay required for extracting bullets and such actions. That would be nice.
You probably have a point about the title and such Geoffrey. Still, it looks it will be a good game.

Tried but didn't like the first one since you couldn't see anything in the jungle. Maybe this one will be better...
LOL, it was a jungle island, that was the whole point...Originally Posted by Alexander the Pretty Good

Seriously, one of the things it was given recognition for was the virtual jungle environment it created. Nothing else up to that point had created as believeable topical environment up to that point. On 1600x1050 with x8AA, x8AF, maxed out settings and that "cold" render setting it still looks really good...
And the tense atmosphere of sneaking through the jungle (where it was easy to hide, but hard to see) with AI soldiers that where not complete idiots looking for you was pretty cool...
The branding thing, well what can you do. I mean look at the MoH brand for all that means...
Personally I am looking forward to Far Cry 2 because of what it is offering in itself...
Simple really. Brand recignition. They draw in people who liked Far Cry with the title. And most people assume that a game that got a sequel must not have sucked ass so it might be worth a look.Originally Posted by Geoffrey S

Oh, I realise that very clearly. I just find it a shame the producers don't have the balls to let this unrelated game stand on its own merits.

Gahzette no 6 reprints an article from Gamespot on FC2. By the sound of that article the game is going to be spectacular. Among other things the gameplay is reported to be much more open-ended, the graphics are going to be of near-Cinegrid quality and the interaction between the characters and their environment nothing less than revolutionary. Rrright. But then, I've heard worse in the way of sequel announcements.

Well if you believe the press that Bijo posted the games new devs think that Jack Carver was a lame character and didn't want to reuse him. And they could have.Originally Posted by Geoffrey S
