    Default Weapon attribute question

The weapons listed as "siege weapon" in the export_descr_unit.txt cause fear to the units they are firing on. Would anyone know if it is possible to have units with the weapon type "missile" or even "thrown" have the same effect on the enemy, or is this all hardcoded? Flaming arrows cause fear, could that be used somehow?
    Thanks in advance

Ok, so adding the line "fiery" in descr_projectiles does the trick, as far as scaring the troops you fire on. Unfortunately though after one makes the edit, this dumb orange stuff cover the area you are firing on (I guess it's supposed to be flames or something) plus the dead are always either well-done or simply charcoal. Any idea on how to remove these annoying effects?

Well, to take out the arrow effects you just need to out-comment the effect and end_effect lines. To remove the fire-sprite effect when the arrows land and the well-done-soldier effect when killed, you should probably edit some models/textures and the relevant files. I'd guess the descr_effects_burning_men.txt and some flame/fire related files in models_effects are the ones, but haven't tested that myself.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to remove all the arrow effects, and the burning men effects too. The one thing that remains is the charcoal-men, (the casualties) that litter the battlefield. Any suggestions as to how to have them die without getting singed would be very helpfull, I am at my wits end.

Can you make a list of all the changes you did? That is quite useful for making certain units (ie Elven Archers etc) have a special effect when shooting, but without fire...

In descr_projectile I added the line "fiery", right above max_angle. I commented out most of the stuff in descr_burning_men_effect and in descr_effects_arrow_trail. Maybe some editing is needed in descr_particle. That's it. As for the burnt men, descr_burning_men just lets you pick between extra crispy or regular.
