    Default Editing units

I'm having trouble finding what I need in the scriptorium. I am attempting unit editing (script files, ghraphics, etc.). Just wondering how much work one would have to do in order to change a units weapon, for example giving a Saxon Keel a sword instead of a spear. Thanks in advance

Thanks, but err, what program should I use to edit the files? I'm a little lost here, having spent most of my modding time on MTW.

You need 3DS Max to edit units for RTW and you need Vercengetorix's CAS importer
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...do=file&id=141
to get them to load / export.

You can use the import function of that with Gmax as well, but unfortunately the export part does not work on that program, so you'd have to find someone with 3DS Max to send your Gmax model to, to get them to convert it for you.

    Does either cost anything?

    A few more questions

    1. How does one go about creating the Unit cards and Review panels(sorry forgot name)?
    2. How does one change colors for units? Is this automatic, or must it be specified within the graphics file?
    3. A little off topic, but does 3DS Max also work for M2TW units? Do have to go through the same process for editing units for M2TW?

3d Max costs a small fortune (about £2500) GMax is free. But as Mak said limited to import only.
1.I think you can use Gmax to make unit cards or it is possible to take screen shots in game and then edit them with Photoshop/Gimp ect..
    2. If you mean skinning see here, for Photoshop or here for Gimp (which is free)
    3. I think you have to use Milkshape for MTW2, it's much cheaper than Max though

How do you make an attack armour piercing? I would like to make al sling units effective against armour, but I have no idea how to do this(I already checked the unit editing guide in the scriptorium).

Simply add the "ap" attribute to its pri_attr line (assuming you want to amke the slings of the slingers ap and not their melee weapon). You're sure you didn't find this in the guide?

Can somebody make a greek hopilte militia with only one weapon (sword) and upload it on send space.
I try to make this kinda staff but 3dmax is to heavy for me. Or can help me with step by step. I have 3dmax, CAS_IE_b79 and Caligula.

This is one of the most simple modification of a unit.
1- Open the cas model with 3dsmax + cas importer.
2- Select primary weapon (spear) and delete it.
3- Select secondary weapon and change its name to primary weapon.
4- Export de new model as cas.
5- Change the stats of sword in export_descr_unit.txt from sec to prim (or copy from other sword unit)
6- Change skeleton in descr_model_battle.txt from fs_spearman (or whatever) to fs_swordsman (with the speed you want).

    I think that's all.

Edit: I don't remember if the original hoplite militia has sword as secondary weapon. In case not the steps are:
1- Open a cas model with the sword you want.
2- Select that weapon. Save selection as max.
3- Open the hoplite militia model and delete the spear (primary weapon).
4- Import the sword model, name it as primary weapon (if it has another name), link it to the right hand.
5- Modify export_descr_unit and descr_model_battle as in the case before.

I usually edit the model with highest resolution (polygons) and use the edited one for all the distances.
