Default La Guerre de Cent Ans - The Hundred Years War

    - La Guerre de Cent Ans -:- The Hundred Years War -

    Teamleader: on a mountain
The team: =NF= the Naked Fanatics
    The flying dutch pet: Stig

    Features:
    - Completely New Map of England and France with 113 regions, made from scratch.
    - Six factions (to be expanded to a far great number by new patches for the mod): The two main combatants (england and france) and four satellites (savoy, aragon, hre, and burgundy), allying themselves to one of the main parties while pursuing their own goals.
    - Starting date: 1337, ends (officially): 1453, 2 turns per year (winter/summer).

Navigatable rivers: four rivers (Rhine, Seine, Garonne, and Rhone) will be navigatable for fleets

Unruly provinces: Will the Welsh stay loyal to the english crown, or make an attempt at gaining their own freedom back?

Vast territories: this is a large map! The overall map is about 20% larger than the original M2, with considerably more landmass

In depth historic research: we have read our books. In french and in english. While the mod tries to keep as close as possible to reality, we are not realism-fanatics. The priority is fun, and if it can be close to historic facts, well, that's a bonus!

"I sentence you, in my capacity as steward of England, to be drawn to the gallows, hanged, beheaded and quartered."

John of Gaunt to the earl of Arundel,
    during Parliament proceedings September 1396

(to which the King Richard II added that due to rank the man need only be beheaded)

    ----------------------------------------------------

To come, in due time (when I am completely finished with it):
A little preview for the Savoy Faction

Excuses for not having every image working, it has to do with the slowness of the totalwar.com forums ... nothing we can do anything about

    The map yes.
OAM did a wonderfull job on that, to make proper high mountains, with paths along them for armies to march and nice forests.

Well we're kinda planning on making it for MTW2, because not everyone owns Kingdoms ... and OAM, who is the inventor of it all doesn't own Kingdoms either.

But in due time, if CA decides to make the games compatible with eachother we might put real generals in yes.

One note on the map, as you've seen England and France start with something like 30 provinces each, while Savoy (here it's still Milan) only has 3. So we're going to do some balancing to make things fair, next to that most French cities will be nothing more than simple villages. With a couple of big recruitment centers and other larger cities.

    Savoy

    Faction Description:
[to come, to be written by someone with flawless English. Should be the same as the one we will be using ingame]

Faction Unit List: (could still be enlarged)
    -Levy Axemen *
    -Savoy Swordsmen *
    -Swiss Pikemen *
    -Dismounted Men at Arms *
    -Zweihander *
    -------
    -Peasant Archers *
    -Pavise Crossbowmen *
    -Handgunners *
    -------
    -Generals Bodyguard *
    -Savoy Light Cavalry *
    -Men at Arms *
    -------
    -Catapult *
    -Trebuchet *
    -Bombard *

Possible additions to be made later (if these come they come after OAM did Aragon):
-Savoy Spearmen (Will look like Pavise Spearmen)
    -Halberd Militia
    -Crossbowmen
-Savoy Knights (Will look like Imperial Knights (with the mace))

    Screenshots
    Levy Axemen (modded Viking Raiders)

    Swiss Pikemen

    Zweihanders

Savoy Swordsmen (modded Frankish Swordsmen from Kingdoms)

*=These units have their coding, and in some case part of skinning, sprites and such done

More screenshots to come I think, uploading takes a while and can be irritating.

Hopefully before the end of this year we'll get something out (6 factions, more of a playable beta). But we're all busy with study again.

    The Savoy Faction is finished
The map will be finished between now and 2 weeks I think
After that OAM will make Aragon, and we still have to make Burgundy. Mostlikely in the first version England, France and the HRE will hardly get any new units.

We prefer to bring something out and patch that up than work 2 years on something while no-one is able to enjoy it.

Question At which stage is that great mod?

    Hi the development team,:)

As a french man, I feel very excited about playing the hundred years war.

And from the screenshots, your work is of very good quality!

Can you give us some fresh news or even better an estimation ( even vague ) of the date of release?

    Thanks in advance,

    best regards,

    Cyril.

Nope it's not dead, I am on the other hand

Actually, we're closer to releasing than we've ever been before. Well an Open Beta that is, which still needs work, but is enjoyable none the less. I've already been playing around with a heavely bugged and things-missing mod and even that is fun (even though I couldn't recruit things yet).

This thread does deserve an update though (I never visit this place anymore since they kicked Elmo out).

    Dear Stig:

Greetings from Canada! I hope this finds you and yours well.

No, this mod is very much alive for I have it on my computer as we speak, and it's driving me nuts in the sense that I'm already in trouble when I first enter the game. My biggest headaches are trying to keep cool heads in the towns Saintes and Bordeaux.

Stig, if possible, could you provide me with a guide to this mod as in how to get started without all this trouble? What am I doing wrong?

What is the EASIEST country with which to start?

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.
