OK, so I decided that I would uninstall my EB and my cluttered C:/Program Files/The Creative Assembly folder so i could reinstall the latest version of EB on a copy of a fresh, unplayed and unaltered in any way RTW.
Using "Add or Remove Programs" on the Control panel, I uninstalled first EB then RTW. I also had a copy of RTW and Invasio Barbarorum in my "C:/Program Files/The Creative Assembly" folder, but seeing that they did not appear on "Add or Remove Programs", I just manually deleted those two folders. On the Start/All Programs menu, I also noticed something labeled "eb0.8". I tried to uninstall it using the uninstall program, but since I had uninstalled EB already it would not let me so I just deleted it.
Now the problem: When I try to re-install RTW (which, btw, is the version found in Total War:Eras), it comes up with a message saying "An older version of Rome - Total War has been detected. Please uninstall this before installing Rome - Total War Gold Edition." I have since checked again to make sure all traces of RTW have been eradicated from my computer and have found nothing. However, every time I try to reinstall, the same error message occurs. I am in a desperate situation, unable to even install Rome Total War.
My question is this: How do I track down and get rid of the traces of my old install? Is the "eb0.8" that I deleted off of the start menu the culprit? Or the IBFD and Copy of RTW root folders that I deleted manually?
I have unsuccessfully searched the Org for answers, but I am hoping that this is a small issue that has been raised before and can be easliy fixed. Any links or help would be greatly appreciated.![]()
