    Default Swiss Halberdiers

I just started a campaign as the Burgundians (XL/Hard/Late). Everthing has been going along well so far, i've managed to survive and snatch some territory from my neighbors. I just noticed something that I found rather troubling. The Pope appears to be training swiss halberdiers. I'm rather confused by this as i've owned switzerland since the second turn and I thought that was the only area they could be trained in. Is this some sort of bug? Has anyone ever seen this before?

Pope can train Swiss Halberdiers (i think anywhere) but certainly in Rome and Papal States.

This is probably in the game because in real life, the Pope has hired swiss mercernaries to protect them since circa 1500s. They still exist today.

yep: regarding the Swiss Guard & the Vatican:

"Swiss Guards are Swiss mercenary soldiers who have served as bodyguards, ceremonial guards, and palace guards at foreign European courts from the late 15th century until the present day (in the form of the Papal Swiss Guard)."

I haven't played the XL mod (haven't downloaded it yet)

but the Swiss mercenaries were my amongst my favourite units in MTW

Swiss Halberdiers can be trained by any Catholic faction in Switzerland, Rome and the Papal States.
