    Default man of the hour

How do I get to adopt a captain into my family? I know that whenever it has happened I have a heroic victory when the odds are stacked against me. However I have won battles like that numerous times without the man of the hour notice. What do I have to do?

It is also dependent on how many family members you currently have. If you have very few compared to the number of provinces you have it will be more likely that a Man of the Hour event will happen.

It only happens when you have a small number of generals with large numbers of settlements. The game tries to maintain a ratio of roughly 1 general to every 2 provinces.

Really? It always seems like a 1:1 ratio for me. I have 112 total members in my Phalava family tree, of which 43 are active male members, to my 51 provinces. Its generally been similar in my other campaigns.

I agree with LordCurlyton that for me it has been mostly 1:1 ratio. And If I expand much those guys pop up all the time for adoption or man of the hour in victories with a force led by a captain.

I noticed that Men of the hour are usually showing better profile then candidates for adoption.

When I have a candidate for adoption, or a suitable husband poping up, and I find him unsuitable, I break the heart of my daughter or of my protege by refusing, then I target a week revolt to crush with a captain, and...

Is there a way to force a "man of the hour"?

Or is there some scripting that can be changed to change the ratio to a slightly higher number than 1:1 because I'd rather have something closer to 1.3:1 generals to settlements

Cool Re: man of the hour

I bribed a rebel barbarian general in a settlement once while playing as hayasdan. But instead of becoming an adopted son of one of my family members, he married one of the daughters and became a son-in-law instead. How did that happen?!

I can't remember if he died the next turn or if the game crashed.

When you bribe an enemy general he doesn't join the family tree straight away.

AFAIK, bribing just gives you control over the general but, like the recruitable generals, he isn't a part of the family tree, he can then join the family tree through marriage or adoption or the like.

At least thats the only way to explain what you saw.
