    Default Swapping Roman Colors?

    How do I swap colors for the "Eastern" & "Western" roman empires? Make the east red and the west purple, aswell as swapping the flags...

    what your talking about I wouldnt even do that way ...

    basicly your going to add 2 new factions in your aproach, so your best bet would be to read up on the tutorials on how to "add units to the game" or "add banners to the game" (etc etc)

    but I'd suggest you simply rename the 2 factions, call west east and east west, change their startingpositions and dont forget to relink the roman-rebels to the other shadow-factions, imo a lot less work...

    Default Changing Starting Point?

    You bring up an interesting point... How exactly do you go about changing a factions "starting point"? And is it possible to start a faction "like say the Saxon's" without any regions? I know how to make them into a hord but don't know how to take away their region!

    you change the factions starting point by editing descr_strat.txt. Under each faction there is a list of the settlements they own. CUT and paste the complete settlement section from

    settlement
    to
    }

    into another factions section to change the ownership.

    Note that you also need to move the armies around by changing their co-ordinates otherwise the ownership won't change as the original faction will still start with an army in the city.

    I think you'll also need to change the event requirement for the Romano British to emerge. I think the event is when WRE loses 2 settlements in britain; however, if you're switching WRE & ERE as mentioned then the settlements will be lost from the beginning of the game instead of part way through.

    Good point Squid, I'd forgotten about them, unfortunately the emergence trigger is entirely hard coded, so it would either work with the empire_east as they are also roman culture (possible, a lot of things like marian reforms relate to culture), might work anyway as it could also be working just on those settlements being taken from original owner (I did know this once, as had problems with them attempting to emerge when already on map, but can't honestly remember )..... or it won't work at all if the factions are swapped.

    @timdickins you're obviously looking at quite a few different aspects of game judging by other questions, if you're not sure which way to go on this, give us an overview of what you are trying to arrive at and we might be able to help better.

    you just need swapping the armies and the faction label.

    like make this;
    Code:
    faction	empire_east, bureaucrat stalin
    denari	7000
    settlement
    {
    like this;
    Code:
    faction	empire_west, bureaucrat stalin
    denari	7000
    settlement
    {
    =====

    didnt realise that rebel-bit, bit imo by just switching the faction-labels like above and than switching the rebels in descr_sm_factions will provide the test-setup you need to check that out with min. effort..;)
