Yeah, I was really annoyed with the Casse chariots for my first battle or two. The lack of maneuverability combined with their ridiculously soft armor just frustrated me to no end.
And then I discovered the joys of formation disruption and morale debilitation. Now they're my most fun unit to use. I just wait until the melee clash locks up and then I run the chariots back and forth just behind the enemy units, barely clipping them. Their lines disintegrate like toast in the pool.
As an alternate strategy, I decided to be really ballsy with my faction leader and I had him lead my entire army's charge with the chariots. He just careened through about 16 ranks of enemy formation and my chargers followed immediately behind him and exploited the glaring gaps he'd made. I think he only had about half his chariots left at the end, but man, it was a lot of fun to watch. Battle was over in roughly ten seconds once the initial charge went off.
