    Default Pahlav Battle Guide

I admit that I am absolutely terrible at anything when it comes to cavalry,so I avoid playing as Pahlav. However, some of the previews that have come up make we want to play as them. So,I'm asking the community to help me out by giving me any help or suggestions on how to effectively use the Pahlav armies, which I'm pretty sure are mostly cavalry-based.Formations,army-makeups,etc.

Parthians were horse archers, fight an annoying style, always attack, kill as many of the enemy, then when your out of arrows retreat. Repeat the process, you can defeat massive armies doing this with relatively low unit numbers.

I will usually use 10 horse archers and if I can afford it add about 5 cataphracts to that. I'll have the cataphracts form up in the center and 5 HAs on each wing. When the battle starts I have the two wings flank both sides and sometimes come around to the rear. Change tactics as they try to counter you.

The key is knowing what units to shoot at. Sometimes you'll have to turn off auto-fire. Never fire at a phalanx from the front, and if you have other targets, don't even bother attacking a phalanx in the rear.

Retreat if you are out of arrows and there are still a lot of enemies left. If there are a few enemies left, try to tie down the enemies with your HAs and have the cataphracts ram them at full speed.
