supposed is the key word here, actually, unless you're playing with Bugfixer or such minimod, the academic traits are not implemented... well, it's been years since I played a 100% pure vanilla game

traits and triggers are located in the "export_descr_character_traits" file
You'll find traits first, and the triggers is the second part.

What is a mod that will fix this "Academy - traits" problem, and I can still keep playing with saved games?

    thanks

ps. Another question: And why won't onangers fire sometimes, even if the army is NOT too close, AND even though the oncoming army may be somewhat down a slope, they're still in eyeline sight?

    Hi KuriousJorj,
You can download player1's BugFixer from here. It's a very useful mod to have, which fixes many soft-coded graphical and physical bugs within the vanilla game. Bear in mind that it isn't save game compatible, so all games you currently have in play will not work after installation.
Hope this helps, good luck, cheers!

IMO, and I admit I'm more than a little biased, this thread is a better source on how to understand and change the files associated with traits and ancillaries. The above links are a listing of vanilla traits and ancillaries as well as a guide on how to work with the vanilla traits and ancillaries, but they give no information on how they really work.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe in RTW 1.5 the Academy Line Traits do work.

Its the Law bonus from the Academy Line that isn't implemented properly by 1.5 (I wrote a mini-bugfixer myself to fix that and a few other things like the Horse Temples).

I've certainly noticed better Traits and Ancillaries on new and existing Generals garrisoned in Cities with Academies, etc so somethings working...
