Judging by some of the comments here, I don't think that "aiming" to get "chicks" is too low, possibly about the right level. Not sure they could handle, nor want more.

It's the word+the tone that makes the meaning. And from my broken nose I detected the sense that everyone here means "chicks" as in "walking sexual favors." Why else would one be asking for "tips on chicks?" So you could engage in stimulating intellectual discourse with the eloquent lady you meet at a social gathering place?

Well...to me it means tips on chicks. :P Not on getting them to sleep with you, but on getting them interested in you and talking to you.
If that is what you want, a lot of girls want to be picked up as much as you want to pick them up. I dare say they would not get offended if you tried. :P
If you tried to pick up a straight, classy lady on the other hand... :P
