    Default Strange problems with unit cards

    I've just discovered some problems that are making me crazy.

    First, I have a mercenary unit recruitable for all the factions in custom battles.
    I have then one unique unit card in the merc folder, and the card is shown without problems in 18 factions, but it doesn't appear in romans_julii and carthage. Instead the card, I have a completely white card, even no the peasant or the background texture.

    Something similar happens with several rebel units, from the thrace faction.
    In campaign, when I spy rebel settlements with those units, the cards are shown without problems in the settlement pannel.
    However, in a historical battle where the same units are used, they don't appear in the army selection pannel, but again the white cards (no peasant, no texture background).

    Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

    Edit: the problem is even more strange. When I minimize RTW and restore, then the unit cards are visible. When I change the screen and return to the problematic one, the problem is again present. Can it be a problem of video options?

    That kind of behavior does suggest that there's more to it than a simple modding mistake, but I honestly don't know what...

    I'm having an issue with unit-cards but only outside the game...
    When I make a new card it looks like its a wet painting that someone tried to clean

    this is how it looks after saving as .tga;

    this how it looks saved directly as .jpg (pretty much how it is in game);

    anyway all I can think of is prehaps you didnt save it as compressed 32bit .tga ...

    (I'm using some units-card for the normal/slave/merc/horde versions of that unit and never had an issue with it so I dont think its a limitation in the game ..)

    The same happened to me when I used photosop 7.0, that didn't handle well the alpha channel of tga files. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57220
    Is that your case?

    Returning to my original problem, this is an image to explain:

    Normal screen when playing

    Screen after minimizing the game and restoring it:

    .. er .. thanks for that answer (would have sworn you where the one asking a question ...:P)
    I'll be playing with that, see if I can make them show up ok both in and out of game ..

    concerning your problem ... weird, most issues usually mean it works or it doesnt, this one is new for me ....

    have you tried using the card packed up and/or a card for each faction (it just saves disk-space to use it as merc (afaik))

    In my game I have units that have 3 versions (actually more but 3 use the same cards) and are used by 15 factions, all 45 units show their cards, BUT they have a card/faction, I havent set these men as merc-unit ...

    Finally I've found the answer.

    The problem is that each faction has access to a huge amount of units (mercenary and others). Romans are one example of faction with lots of units, and the chariot was the last one in EDU. The game is not able to show cards of units exceeding the given hard-coded number (100?).

    In the case of the historical battle, the effect was the same, but regarding the rebels. The ilergeti faction is the last one in EDU, and the cards of units corresponding to slave faction were not shown. The problem has been solved by simply pushing the required units towards the beginning of EDU file.

    Now, my doubt is why those cards were shown in campaign. I wonder if in campaign the game considers each sub-faction of slave as independent.

    Thanks for the update and answer. This will be useful to know for modders. I think I saw this white effect on buildings once, but maybe that was just a graphic card issue - but I wonder if this effect occurs elsewhere?
