What is it exactly that makes the LCD's harsher in your opinion?

I have one on my laptop (which is always how I go online), and it doesn't bother me anymore than my desktop, which is a CRT.

Perhaps you should turn the brightness down a little? Might help with your headaches (I do get those once in a while, but my CRT is just as likely to cause it as my laptops LCD).

Caius, before you jump the gun and get an LCD, you need to be sure that having one won't kill your eyes.
    My eyes have a timebomb.

    I need a CRT. I wonder if I can buy one.BTW, Im using a Philips 105E.

One interesting side note, I was reading my monitors help menu and it said that two thin horizontal lines were stabilizing wires which stabilized the screen.

Maybe your thin lines are comparable to that. My old CRT didn't have those as far as I know, and I did get bad horizontal lines right before it died.
