Yes, I know, but I assume that this at least slows down the appearance of elite-heavy armies.
Maybe there is some completely different reason for the difference in cost, but it escapes me at this point.

It's just the fact that Gallic factions have more respect for their elites than any faction has for foreign elites. Remember that they are considered barbarians, so why should they get the big bucks?
They were considered A*** kicking creasy mofos thats what they were considered.![]()
All who surrounded Galatia payed BIG $$ to have them fight for them. The ptolemoi used them as the Pharaos (sp) guard too, plus they got land to settle in Egypt like the greeks got land. Hell even the greeks made a statue of them, "The Dying Gaul".
anywho....
I think the issue here is a cost error that was not addressed since the Galatian Tindonotae are ONLY a merc unit. Unlike Pez who are both mercs and fational so its easier to not mess up thier cost.![]()
theoretically every merc unit should cost more than the factional version of the same unit. Why? Because it is the logical conclusion. So the "issue" here is actually that other merc units should also cost more than their factional counterparts, not the other way aroundOriginally Posted by NeoSpartan

Merc recruitment costs have been changed in the coming version, they will be significantly more expensive than their MIC-recruited counterparts. I don't think that will affect custom battles though, as costs are determined by region.Originally Posted by blank

Yeah, merc recruitement costs are determined purely by export_descr_merc.txt; the EDU does still govern things like upkeep, equipement upgrade costs, and recruitement price through barracks should that turn up though.
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

Watchman elaborated it for me. Mercs' cost is defined in a file specific for the campaign.
