Default Two Guards Killed, a Third Wounded in Robbery

(CNN) -- Two guards were killed and a third wounded Thursday in the robbery of an armored vehicle outside a Wachovia Bank branch in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, police said.

The suspect, described as a black male wearing a yellow baseball cap, is seen on tape from a surveillance camera.

Police were looking for one suspect, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said.

The suspect, a black male wearing a yellow baseball cap, may have driven a black four-door car from the scene, Johnson said.

The two guards died from gunshot wounds.

The third guard, who was grazed by a bullet or flying glass, was hospitalized, Johnson said.

The robbery attempt happened shortly after 8 a.m. ET as the Loomis armored vehicle crew serviced an automated teller machine outside the bank near the Roosevelt Mall in northeastern Philadelphia, Johnson said.

Scores of police and FBI agents were on the scene, KYW Newsradio reporter Tony Hanson told CNN. Video Watch police swarm the shooting scene »

Video footage from CNN affiliate WPVI-TV of Philadelphia showed the guards' bodies lying on the ground near the drive-up ATM, covered with white sheets.

The mall was shut down, Hanson said, and police were stopping cars leaving the area, The Associated Press reported.

Police were studying bank surveillance video for clues, the police commissioner said.

Schools in the area were locked down, Hanson said.

Police found a black bag filled with cash behind an off-track betting parlor near the bank, police Officer Raul Malveiro told the AP.

The bank is close to Interstates 95 and 76, which police said could have provided easy escape routes for anyone involved in the robbery

but they'll call a manhunt on him. like they did to that guy here in MIA, its only a matter of time, since he'll be a priority for killing those people.

They were armed were they not , they were ex-police ,.
What do you want some blackwater mercenaries or something ?

Lucky the truck was armoured so the murderer didn't manage to kill the third guard.

Didn't I say somewhere that being armoured is better than having a gun? Ah well, I was wrong, wasn't I?

Still a tragic story, they should only leave the trucks inside secure buildings, not carry the money around outside.

What part of ex-police don't you understand ?

Oh I see spending 23 and 27 years in the police means they were not really ex-police at all

I hope there is some sarcasm in there. Sadly my sarcasm monitor appears to be suffering some severe stupid-statement interference at the moment.

I was hoping to make a witty remark here...

But I failed. Completely. I can't think of anything resembling a sentence. I'm sorry. I'll sacrifice my firstborn in your honour to compensate...

And I need to go to bed.

Slyspy , there is nothing wrong with your sarcasm monitor .
It is your severe stupidity monitor that is not working .

But anyhow to branch out on the topic ...while it might be tempting to paint a "this story shows that having a gun does not give you much self defence does it" branch , I shall avoid that and branch into , Police pensions must be really crap over there if people have to keep working once they are eligable for the full service(not old age) pension . Or then again how about Police wages must be really crap over there since so many of them hold down second jobs while they are still serving .

The rubbish you wrote is so bad it doesn't need any counter arguement , it speaks for itself and it shouts very loudly "nonsense" .
Or as mentioned already "severe stupidity" .
    Well done Cossack .

I do love your use of quotation marks

    Keep digging your hole Cossack.

Perhaps you should go back and edit all your posts in this thread if you want to try and pretend that they made any sense

I would have made an effective counter-argument if I knew what the argument was that I'm countering. All I see is barely coherent nonsense which will no doubt be locked fairly soon.

Some people just like to work after they retire. Nothing wrong with that.

Sadly, this thread appears to have degenerated beyond repair.
