Mercenary drapanai?

Heya all, while tweaking my own merc pools ingame, I noticed this:

unit dacian infantry drapanai slave, exp 0 cost

2180 replenish 0.07 - 0.1 max 3 initial 2
unit dacian missile peltastaithrakioi merc, exp 0 cost 3100

replenish 0.06 - 0.09 max 2 initial 1

But I know for sure they aren't available in game. Is it possible to make drapanai available? I would really like my Romani to be able to spearhead their attacks into Asia Minor with these excellent AP maniacs.

Hm, not sure about making them available, but if you want spearhead shock troops - hire the galatian take on gaesatae! I've got 2 units in one of my armies and 1 in another, and they are absolutely amazing shock troops. I defeated 2 full stacks in a single battle mainly because I could lead one of those maniacs around the flank of an enemy phalanx and another charging a few non-phalanx units in the middle of the enemy line from the front, while my cavalry was blocked from entering the fray due to enemy phalanx units covering the rear of the already engaged units... Too bad there's no replay saving in singleplayer campaigns

Nah, i want drapanai. They look so much cooler. And then falxes are eeeevil. Tindanotae are...well, naked men get boring after a while. Topless with pants on makes it so much more -attractive-. XD

Afaik the drapani have pretty lousy stats though... die like flies to missiles, and are worse than most regular line infantry. Not my taste for spearheads, but maybe useful as weak flanking troops... To each his own, I guess.

They aren't merc they are used to have rebel drapani and bastarnae since they share model.

I did a test in CB. Drapanai against the mighty Seluecid TA (The armoured ninja dudes) I waited till they came close and charged at them before they get to throw their javelins (they eventually did after engaging melee) I routed those nasty armoured spear men. (then I did a test against Cohors Impretoria. Lost badly

)

I played 2 campeigns with Getai but soo far I havnt been beaten by any opponents (not fighting the horse archers) with 4 units of Drapanai. I dont think any unit (except misile units) can beat the Drapanai around the Dacia region.

...although I can't personally understand why not just use the "rebel" slot for the reb Draps and the Merc one for the Bastarnoz... ATM the result is one somewhat superfluous unit entry.
