    Nah, for the time being accensi are still there. There is some heated debate amongst Roman historians upon their validity, we have not come to a conclusion on the EB team either. While accensi literally means "attendants" and there is some evidence they were originally simply arms-bearers for the hoplites of the army, other evidence suggests they acted as supernumeraries for wounded soldiers and took part in battle if the situation was especially drastic.
