Yeah. I joined just to moan a little about the sweboz units. I don't really understand how the "Wodanawulfoz" cost 2258 to recruit when there is only about 30 of them, they only have a shield as armour and they suck against most gallic units. e.g gallic northern-swordsmen cost 1400, 60 units, kill "Wodanawulfoz" quite easily. There is a similar problem with the "Swardimannoz" who cost 2026 but are actually relatively useless compared to other units, they're only good against roman units etc. but even then they're not that great.

The merjoz could maybe do with a little tweaking as well but not as much as the 2 above mention units. Am I missing something? Is there some kind of a secret to these units?

Wodanafulfoz are a fierce unit and lower enemies morale. Their celtic counterparts are pictone neitos. You should use them against low morale enemy and you can rout enemy units before they can cause high casualities. And yes swardimannoz are good agaist armoured oponents.

kk. yes thats all good i suppose but the prices still seem a little odd to me considering they both have so little armour and not such a large unit size. The units aren't very good against the gauls though. having bit of difficulty with gauls as Wodanawulfoz and Swardimannoz aren't usually worth it when i could buy 2 units of spearmen instead. Don't seem to be many units to face the gauls with round tier 2-3. The aedui and arverni units usually have higher morale than there roman counterparts.

Ignore recruitment costs, either you've got enough for "an army" or you haven't.
It's the upkeep you want to pay attention to, that's what'll make or break your military and economy.

they're both above 500. pretty expensive. I just don't understand what the basis is for their costs. They drive a hard bargain or something?

I haven't played a Sweboz campaign in a while but IIRC, the Wodan guys are shock troops and give the enemy hell of a morale hit if you can charge to their flanks or ambush them or something, the other guys are armed with clubs so I would imagine their roll is as anti-armour infantry and again, shock troops.
I would expect both units to have relatively high morale consequently, however I'm certainly no expert. Regardless this seems a little off topic, try this thread or perhaps the stickied suggestions thread.

    Cheers
