Thread: No consuls in my game

Question No consuls in my game

I've just checked through the traits of all my family members and I've realised that I don't have any consuls nor ex-consuls. I was under the impression that there would always be two each year. Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks.

    You got the wrong impression...
In seriousness, traits work around the RTW game engine, not around true historical politics. In short apart from trying to ensure your generals get the best chance of achieving the trait (fighting battles etc), it is also important to ensure the generals have the appropriate precursor traits (censor, aedile? I'm no roman expert a quick google of the roman political system should get you some results).
Finally if you still can't get the trait, and believe your generals worthy of it (or you're just curios to see what it does!) you can always use the give_trait console command.

    Cheers

You can assume there are always 2 Consuls per year, one or both just may not be characters within your family.

And yes another perfectly viable option from a role-playing perspective

Yes, but the EB Romani family tree isn't supposed to represent a family at all....more like the political structure of Rome.

Zak, you of all people should know that by now.

While my statement does nothing to solve the OP's dilemma, I just thought I would point that out.

The Roman family tree is more of a representation of romes political structure, as is Baktria's, KH's, and probably a few other's I'm not currently aware of.

So, realistically, the consuls should be in there somewhere.

    Game engine limitations = poopoo.

The consuls which aren't part of your family are those who are pretty minor (all of your family tree are roman giants) who merely become consul and do what there bigger freinds (your family members) say, as such there not wort anything in the long term.

That's a good way of roleplaying it, yes.

Like overweightninja said....the give_trait console command is also a viable option.

You take the role of a group of families all well connected to one another within the senate, but that is about it. The senate was huge, the great families of rome even larger. We represent a small proportion of this, the other large part is played by the computer.
