Thread: Proof that rebellions are FUBAR

Playing as the Holy Roman Empire on Hard Early i was able to conquer all of Britain, Scandinavia, France, and most of Italy by 1100. Being a Shoggy vet i have perfected the blitz tactic so it wasn't hard.
(On another game i was able to eliminate the English in about 3 turns as the french on hard (got all contienental provinces and wessex, killed all the heirs in battle of wessex)

Anyway, i continued on to Spain (who allied with the Almohads against me?? wtf) I was able to crush them pretty quickly.

I slowed down expansion and decided to start building mass spies, bishops, garrison, churchs, castles and the like to prevent rebellions as a approch the 2/3 victory mark. This forum warned me about the 899 stacks so I wanted te be well prepared. Tax rate was on either very low or low since the beginning of the game for all my provinces.

With most of my provinces at 200% loyalty with at least a keep and a church, garrison of about 300 and near or at 100% catholic, mass spies everywear along with bishops, I still got mass rebellions.

In one province in particular the rebels came in with hundreads of super advanced troops even though THE PROVINCE WAS AT 200% LOYALTY (didn't change at all) had a castle with church, 100% religion, AND ABOUT 3 FULL STACKS OF MY TROOPS SITTING THERE all before the rebellion happened. YES I TOOK A SCREENSHOT SINCE I THOUGHT IT WAS RIDICOULUS TOO. don't have anywhere to post it though. Loyalty didn't drop 1% on the turn before or after the rebellion.

anyone know why that happened? i did everything pepople said to prevent rebellions (btw my king didn't die and was close by.)

I'll make a list of rebellion preventing tactics that i did to make it easy to critique.

    Anti-rebellion tactics

    Tax rate at very low
Garrisons of at least 300 (sometimes more to ensure loyalty above 120%)
    Build castles
    Build churchs, cathedral and such
    Build border forts
    Bishop in each province
At least one spy in each province
    Religion at 100%
Governor in province with no vices and decent dread and piety
King nearby and with good influence, dread, piety

    What else could i do?

this is not a troll post but this game is quickly becoming Medieval: Total s h i t.

I was able to stop most factions from reappearing by keeping loyalty above 120%, but apparently i can't stop rebellions from happening even if i have a $#%%#@ 3 full stack (3000+ troops) garrison and castle and 200% loyalty and 100% religion rating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don;t know what to tell you.... I'm nearly finished with a campaign and I RARELY gt rebellions. When I do, I'm fairly certain they are incited by spies. I think the gmae's strat is brilliant.

btw if does anyone know an easy way to post the screenshot. its a great one, i right clicked on the provinced that rebeled 2 stacks so you can see that it had very low tax, 200% loyalty, 100% catholic, 3 stacks of my troops as garrison/italy invasion force, and king nearby.

To post a screenshot, do the following:

    1. Upload it to some site, either your own or someplace that lets you.

    2. Put a link in your post to the picture on the site where you uploaded it. If you can't figure out how to do the UBB codes to make an active link in a post, just post the URL of the picture for folks to copy into their browsers.

NOTE: It's possible to actually have the picture appear directly in your post, but that's generally considered to be in bad taste due to the loading times this imposes on dial-up guys. So just post the link.
