Welcome, Tyberius

Part one: there are a couple of other utilities for saving LBMs - there's Mithel Image Converter, which you will find a link to in the LMM thread (IIRC) which is very good with colour tables and maintaining correct indexing, and also an old DOS program called GDS (Graphic Display System) which converts between many formats including BMP and LBM, which are the important ones. I've used this for uniticons and had success with the faction colours - I don't know of anywhere you can download it but if you want to give it a whirl PM me with an email address and I can send it on. These problems are mostly down to indexing, so fiddle about till something works and then save your palette/colour table for future use. I find I get mixed results using BIFReader for the reviewpanel graphics, sometimes the faction colours work, sometimes they don't One thing I have noticed though is that some reviewpanel graphics which don't have the green/purple colours included, can still show some areas of faction colours, indicating that it is the indexing (rather than the colours themselves) that counts. I haven't actually tried purpgrab, even though I do have it somewhere, so can't comment on how well that works.

On the second part - ermm, not sure. I think you've already found some things out I haven't Again I use BIFReader for these, but find I get black splodges at the right-hand side.
