Hey Qwety, is it Hebrew that you used for the unit names? If so, what's the reasoning? My uneducated guess would place a southern semitic toungue such as that of the Sab‘yn closer to Arabic than Hebrew (with -n in plurals, as in Sab‘yn, instead of -m as in -say- Aravim ― also that b > v thing looks like Hebrew) but then what do I know?

There is a grain of truth here. With lots of new functionality there are also new bugs. We have eliminated most, but some are bound to have slipped through.

    WOW!!!

Just one more question. If we have Lesser Generals and Family members, does that mean we can recruit generals (if there's a "man of the hour" you adopt him, he becomes a family member)?

Is the Sabean Family Member really left-handed, or has he been reversed for artistic layout reasons?

The reason I ask is because I didn't think you could have left-handed swordsmen without creating new animations.

Well now! Looks like Saba is finally complete! And looking all the better for it too
Can't WAIT to take over the desert with those guys!

...unless of course the EB team is planning to now deplete most of those units to appeal to a wider audience (This coming from the guy who actually bought it)

    Great work guys!

Just one question: is the FM's cape/cloak fur of some kind? It looks very similar to the background - is that just a coincidence?

I've been playing them for fun in .8x....they already had some decent units.

Last battle, I attacked Axum, and my King's Elites killed about 300 eleutheroi scum.

Those guys have to be some of the most bad-ass infantry in the game. 14/24, high morale, javelins and an arabian long sword.

With these new units, it looks as if Saba may even give the Diadochoi a run for there money.

The Saba faction heir is pretty cool too, it's pretty simple to get him to three gold chevrons in a few turns. The only time I've ever had a three gold unit in EB I think.

Being in charge of Eleutheroi I resent that comment, be careful because in 1.0 the Eleutheroi (former slaves, rebels, scum) will curb your expansionist desires with their better developed cities, troop recruitment capabilities and varied roster.

The Sabaens spoke either a dialect of Ancient South Arabian or an Ancient South Arabian Language (its disputed academically but its mostly a silly argument over semantics). For practical purposes they spoke Sabaean, and the few people in the world who are serious scholars of ancient south Arabia are quite capable of reading the tens of thousands of inscriptions in it. They were a hugely literate people, and we have a huge number of inscriptions extant.

Yes its Hebrew, its a placeholder until we can get Sabaean in. The short answer is that the language(s) of Ancient South Arabia are closer to classical Hebrew than classical Arabia.

It's the skin of an Arabian Leopard. The similarity to the background is just a coincidence, what you can see in the screen shot is the underside of the fur. The other side looks like a Leopard skin with the dots and all.

    @Redmeth

I was already impressed with the difficulty of taking Eleutheroi settlements in .8x. Might as well have been a mini-faction (which is ideal, really).

Now you've made them more difficult.

Thank you (with a simultaneous 'you bastard' for when they frustrate me in 1.0)

Wow that sounds very promising. I always liked Eleutheroi in EB because for example they have these various names of tribes/nations (when you place your mouse cursor on their cities or on their armies) like for example Helvetti, Belgae, Goidils etc. And that is very neat feature it gives you the feel that they really are a different factions and not some unified "slave" power.

Nice to see that even the Saba are now a fully-fledged, complete faction.

btw, is this the last release of EB? Are all of you going to work full-time on EB2 now?

Last release? 1.0? If you really want to know when EB will release it's final project take two mirrors and have them face each other. Then, see if you can the last EB release somewhere in that endless hall.

Although I'm not sure whether you will see EB or not, a similar effect can be created by having a television screen broadcast the live image from a camcorder which is filming that same television screen.

Over at the TWC, Foot stated that there will be one or two more releases of EB1 before the team switches entirely to EB2.

    Bah, TWC...

I never go there anymore because it moves significantly slower than the .org. and I have dial up.

I've always wondered why that was.

Rep points are pretty cool though.
