hey all, I've just returned to playin EB after almost a year...I found the SAKA particularly challenging before...so i picked up where I left off. anyway, im walking over all the reb settlements and no faction has attacked me yet. its 246 bc. im just wondering if its other mods interfering or not (i have the roma surrectum crap downloaded). before, the other factions would be on me like a hammer on an anvil...ive done nothing different. is the newest eb download modified from the one before. i forget which version i had...its been awhile. this is perhaps my favorite mod. i just wanna win clean.

Having another mod downloaded will do nothing to it, and i dont particularly like the use of the word crap when describing Roma Surrectum. You clearly know nothing about modding, no mod is crap. Its hard work and to have losers like yourself insulting it by calling it crap is a bit harsh. Id love to see you make a mod, and see how you like it when people call it crap. Just because its not as good as EB doesnt make it crap, alot of people prefer our mod to EB..its a completely different style of play. So next time, dont go calling it crap when it most certainly is not, just because you dont like it.

where I come from saying i have "roma surrectum" crap downloaded on your PC doesnt mean that it is crap. Its like saying "I have all this crap on my table" Meaning "I have all this stuff on my table" I read it as "I have roma surrectum stuff downloaded" not that its crap.

If "crap" was placed before the name then, yes, you would be correct in thinking he said that RS is crap. ie saying "I just ate this crap apple" compared to "I just ate this apple crap" which would be refferring to an apple product etc. The same thing can be done with the word "Shit"

I dont think he even used it as CReative APplication as you would want to put it as CRAP to avoid any confusion. That was probably just an easier explanation than the one I just did.

Hope that clears some things up. Heh, colloquial language sucks on the internet as it just gets you in trouble as people from different countries dont know what you mean.

Yeah I agree with this, when I read the OP it didn't strike me as being offensive to roma surrectum, I actually had to reread to see why pseudocaesar got annoyed. It's just a figure of speech which perhaps doesn't work too well in an international community, I'm glad I read this actually or I could have done the same thing myself sometime, if the guy really thought roma surrectum was crap why would it still be on his PC?
I have to admit though his CReative APplication excuse is a bit strange.

General Varro, we DO NOT tolerate that kind of action.

No name calling on other mods. You may like EB, or you may not, some other mods as well. For the record I enjoy Roma Surrectum right now, especially its Pergamon faction.

You may not like it, but most others, me included, do.
They have Hayasdan and Seleukides faction previewed which is GREAT. I advise you to check that one out.

We'd already concluded why he said "crap"

Just out of curiosity, to the people who took offence to that statement. What age group are you in? Is English your first language? What countries are you from?

This isnt meant to be 'smartass' or anything its just really interesting to find out how it was taken so badly. The way the people of my age group in my location use statements like that all the time and they dont take offence because they are not meant to be offending.

Btw im young, im only 20 and im from New Zealand.

Again refer to my earlier post, it explains why the statement is not meant to be offending.

P.S Colloquism still sucks on the internet due to the wide variety of languages and cultures around.

Im 15 from USA english is my first language, using Crap in that term anywhere is walking on a fine line between saying stuff and shit (aka calling it shit or saying it sucks or whatnot)

It was a poor choice of words, and a poor choice of the ordering of those words.

look, english is the only language i speak so i cant explain it any more simply than this...what went thru my head while typing the initial question was "i wonder if the roma surrectum crap is interfering with my eb crap". i didnt refer to it as "that crappy roma surrectum mod". i do understand how people took it the other way however...which is why everyone should read my reply in post 10 i believe.

anyway, since my ?'s were answered and nobody seems to be replying to my experiences, and nothing more positive or constructive seems to be coming out of this post, the admin or other powers that be may want to delete this entire thread.

Thats one of the good things about EB it rarely goes the same way twice, in one game a faction may sit there and do nothing, in another they will expand like wildfire. I have to say though the Baktrians pretty much always go crazy in my games, luckily I'm usually on the other side of the map, or stuck down in Arabia.
As for the crap thing I think most people understand, keravnos obviously didn't read the whole thread.
