hey all, I've just returned to playin EB after almost a year...I found the SAKA particularly challenging before...so i picked up where I left off. anyway, im walking over all the reb settlements and no faction has attacked me yet. its 246 bc. im just wondering if its other mods interfering or not (i have the roma surrectum crap downloaded). before, the other factions would be on me like a hammer on an anvil...ive done nothing different. is the newest eb download modified from the one before. i forget which version i had...its been awhile. this is perhaps my favorite mod. i just wanna win clean.

Yeah I agree with this, when I read the OP it didn't strike me as being offensive to roma surrectum, I actually had to reread to see why pseudocaesar got annoyed. It's just a figure of speech which perhaps doesn't work too well in an international community, I'm glad I read this actually or I could have done the same thing myself sometime, if the guy really thought roma surrectum was crap why would it still be on his PC?
I have to admit though his CReative APplication excuse is a bit strange.

As for my "crap" comment, It was a mistake to use it in this forum where my meaning is ambiguous and my inflection is not heard. I have been playing Roma Surrectum for awhile now and find many unique aspects of it enjoyable. I apologize to any Roma Surrectum member being offended by my language. I assure all of u my "crap" comment was in the spirit of "stuff" and not in a pejorative manner.

My "creative application" ditty was an attempt at diffusive humor.

for anyone interested...I reinstalled everything and the baktrians are back w/a vengence. Ive played the past two days. The really interesting thing tho is the big rebel army in the passes south of sulek. on the first day i played after the reinstall i played 2-3 campaigns as saka and that rebel army was actually a help to me as they blocked the baktrians for awhile at least. the second night i played however (another 2-3 campaigns) that same reb army frustrated me from taking sulek (they would either attack me directly or sulek 2-3 turns after i would take it)...interesting. I always play vh/vh, and my first 20 or so moves as saka are pretty much scripted.

any feedback appreciated

ps. this is not a complaint, in fact I love this type of thing happening...keeps the game interesting.

General Varro, we DO NOT tolerate that kind of action. No name calling on other mods. You may like EB, or you may not, some other mods as well. For the record I enjoy Roma Surrectum right now, especially its Pergamon faction.

Just out of curiosity, to the people who took offence to that statement. What age group are you in? Is English your first language? What countries are you from?

This isnt meant to be 'smartass' or anything its just really interesting to find out how it was taken so badly. The way the people of my age group in my location use statements like that all the time and they dont take offence because they are not meant to be offending.

Btw im young, im only 20 and im from New Zealand.

look, english is the only language i speak so i cant explain it any more simply than this...what went thru my head while typing the initial question was "i wonder if the roma surrectum crap is interfering with my eb crap". i didnt refer to it as "that crappy roma surrectum mod". i do understand how people took it the other way however...which is why everyone should read my reply in post 10 i believe.

anyway, since my ?'s were answered and nobody seems to be replying to my experiences, and nothing more positive or constructive seems to be coming out of this post, the admin or other powers that be may want to delete this entire thread.

Thats one of the good things about EB it rarely goes the same way twice, in one game a faction may sit there and do nothing, in another they will expand like wildfire. I have to say though the Baktrians pretty much always go crazy in my games, luckily I'm usually on the other side of the map, or stuck down in Arabia.
As for the crap thing I think most people understand, keravnos obviously didn't read the whole thread.

Ok guys, let's get back to the game. This line of conversation will only lead to bitter discussion. He already explained it and I'm sure he's sincere, and on top of that, the RS people knows that they have fans everywhere and that includes EB team members as well. So let's get over this, shall we?

Now, to the issue of Saka Rauka.

First, let me tell you that you're playing with one of the most difficult factions in the game. I was one of the nomad's betatesters and it was tough. Don't worry, the Baktrians are amassing their troops on the border, so you'll have to be very well prepared. Balance your account first, or you won't have enough money to replenish your troops when the Pahlava join the Baktrians against you.

If you survive their joint onslaught, then everything will be fine.

However, you may not see it yet, but there's a huge dust cloud to the east of your faction's homeland... take great care with that.

and, as an aside, although i really wish it would go away...this "crap" comment i made, ive played roma surrectum for at least a month and found it extremely enjoyable.

No, this has nothing to do with you install, so don't waste time reinstalling it.

This part of the world is very wide and the armies take a long time to reach any far place. The Baktrians, under the AI, get large armies very fast. If you attack them, they will come with vengeance. And I'm sure the Pahlava are moving around as well.

I did not mean to spam this thread and take it off topic, but I thought pseudocaesar was being awfully rude to the initial poster. Varro was just mentioning that he was using the mod, and obviously using crap as a predicate. I was curious how pseudocaesar would have reacted when somebody was actually using crap as a pronoun to describe roma serrusomething.

Look up the definition of forum, and learn to read between the lines and allow others their opinion. Thats my message, since you asked.

Back on topic:
One of the patches released by CA had the AI constantly lifting sieges after a game was loaded, this is probably not the case with the latest ones but would result in very unpredictable expansions.

Still, if you take a look at the old AI expansion thread, you can see that the AI does expand differently from game to game for whatever reason. Even on the same RTW version and EB version.
