Oblivion: great graphics, great music, and little else going for it.
I was initially very impressed with it at first but once the novelty of great graphics wore off, I started to see the game for what it truly is much more clearly. Shallow fluff.
Way too many map markers that can be instantly teleported to; never sense of getting lost in the wilderness. Main quest is way too short. Side quests are also way too short. The crime system with omniscient and telepathic guards is completely and utterly broken out of the box and sucks all the fun right out of the game. Enemy and loot scaling to your level totally kills any intrigue or sense of exploration or danger the game might have otherwise had. As well as any challenging or memorable areas or encounters that the game might have otherwise had. The NPC character models and voice actors are recycled way too much; the very same characters models and voice actors copy and pasted all over the game and are "supposed" to be different persons in the game.
Ultimately I put Oblivion in the same category of Doom 3: great graphics engine, bad game.
