    Default which came first?

    The Chicken or the Egg?

I for one happen to believe that I know the correct answer but I'm curious what y'all think and how y'all come to your conclusions.
Why did the chicken cross the road?

So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road,
but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely
    chicken's dominion maintained. ~Machiavelli

I don't think any altar boy ever came too.

    Technically the egg.
It is genetically different from the chicken, and therefore 'first' of it's kind.

Well i am overall unsure what could come first, but I think there was a big scientific study and I think they determined the Chicken had to come first.

But this is really just spam.

Well - I have eggs for breakfast - chicken's for lunch, or later. So, egg. Murat also makes sense.

The egg, but it wasn't necessarily a chicken egg that the first chicken came out of.

Being an eggspert on the subject inclucks me to bring a 'sunny-side' to every discussion, not something 'hard-boiled' or be to 'runny' as it were.

Why do they never specify chicken egg? Fish and other creatures would have been laying eggs ages before chickens were around, and even for a creationist, most plants reproduce sexually, with both egg and sperm, so the egg is at least a day older than the chicken.

Impressive effort Marshal, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed that it fell a few short of a dozen puns/quips.

In a foot race on level plain, I would have to say Chicken
In a downhill rolling contest...egg hands-erm I mean shells down.
Joking aside I believe that neither came first b/c they taste fake.
Okay, Okay, I actually thought it was a chicken like creature but now I'm not so sure anymore b/c a chicken like creature would have to lay an egg that becomes a chicken, but how does the egg know how to become a chicken.
