Two things: have you tried the Custom Battle EDU?
The engine picks 100 units; apparently at random.... and those make for your CB roster.

after replacing original_edu with custom_battle_edu shining armored elephantes appeared out of nowhere =)
(going to make a second copy of RTW folder specially for custom battles and that'd be the solution)

Despite good efforts I can't free up enough space on C: to install it. Could anyone be cool enough to compress the EB post-installed folder into a ZIP or RAR and stick it somewhere?

I have had these problems before. Ultimately, I had to install Rome on another computer, and there patch it up to 1.3 and then 1.5, and then copy it back to my computer again.

Anyone who got a smoother solution is welcome to help.

Being a lazy worthless couch potatoe that I am. I forgot to prepare for this GLORIOUS moment and I actually did not uninstalled my old RTW and EB 0.81 mod beforehand. So I had to do it now.And at this moment I had just finished instaling the fresh copy RTW. And now I am just going to download this sweetie.........And estimated downloading time from filefront for me is 01:30

And I probably will listen to Bovi's advice and will go to sleep ( I will still get a 5 hours of decent sleep) Because without a sleep today I would get surely my ass handed to me tomorrow (well technically already today) by all the enemies of Greco-Bactrian Kingdom in my upcoming campaign.

It is for times just such as these that I am extremely grateful to be old and retired. I'm not going to leave my study for the next two weeks. Fortunately, the NWN2 expansion was released this week, as well, so that should keep my wife off my back for at least 10 days.
