Okey I think I figured it out. Turns out you need to install 1.6 patch even with BI. Just enter "RTW 1.6" in Google and find a link to the patch. Download that, install the patch, then, if you've got EB in a separate copy of your original RTW install, click on the BI .exe and RTW .exe and copy/paste them over the ones in the EB install folder.(AKA the RTW folder you copied from the original to install EB in, NOT the EB mod folder inside of that!!) Thats how I solved my issue give that a shot Schatten!

I think you're talking about custom battles not showing roman units. Look at this thread to see the answer to that.

i have make it so, copied clear RTW+BI 1.6 than installed EB 1.0 in the original order than used the installer for eb bi (with unchecked shieldwall box)
tested again...eb campaign, historical,custom=crash...copied the original RTW and BI.exe over the ones in eb ordner...and crash again!

since RTW and BI work still correct and without any problems and all in eb (campaign, historical, custom) ends in crash its clearly a bug in eb

i give now up after 3 days of install and deinstall i have enough of this bug-crash shiet, to bad i have deleted 0.81 it has crashed from time to time but at last it has work, eb 1.0 simply dont work whatever the reason is.

PS: in custom battles screen i see no roman army types too only regional troops...one bug more...

Have you tried to play it through the RTW.exe "prior to the bi installer"? EB is designed for RTW not bi, it is possible to play it through bi, but it is a bit different to 0.8x because of some file changes from the RTW/data folder to the mod folder.

    Why????

    I have:
    RTW 1.5
    EB 1.0
EB has many different Units (more than 400), many of them are regionals, that can be recruited by more than one faction.

To solve this problem we have mad an additional edu (export_descr_units.txt, the file where all unit stats and faction ownershipd are stored) for costuma nd multiplayer games. You need to replace your normal edu (in the eb/data fodler) with the specialised costum edu (make a backup of the normal edu first!!!). If you now start the game all factions ahev only all their factional and some selected regional units availabel in costum battel and mp.

You will find the costum mp edu in the folder "your RTW directory/eb/mp custom game edu"

A question to those trying to install, are you using the CD or DVD version of the game? For those who got it working and have read this topic, what did you use?

i have try to play with bi 1.6 and without, so with RTW 1.5 and EB 1.0 installation only, without BI, it was always the same thing...RTW 1.5 work, EB crash as soon you try to start any campaign.
Same thing with BI upgrade....BI 1.6 works but EB 1.0 crashes

It was everytime a fresh installation after deleting the old, helps nothing

Have you tried the validation program I posted?

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Rechts neben "Ziel" muss stehen: dein Rome Ordner\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -nm

Dann folgendes: Du gehst dahin: dein Rome Ordner\EB\Dataworld\maps\campaign

    barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt ohne Leerzeichen bidde
