Thread: More Memory?

    Default More Memory?

I currently have 1 gig of RAM installed, would it have any effect of the campaign map slow downs (the campaign map slows down and gets choppy the more and more of it I get revealed and the longer I play in a single session) if I bought another gig. Because I would be willing to look into this if it would help but don't want to waste the time or money if it won't.

    thanks

-ps, my computer is no slouch either. P4 3. something or other, ddr ram running at dual channel, a 7600 nvidia card. As I've said, the battle scenes almost always run fine and MTWII runs very well with almost all settings maxed.

so if it is a matter of the script on the campaign map needing more memory, I'd look into it because it would be well worth it to play EB.

Nope, for RTW (even for the latest EB) 1 gig is pretty enough.

I noticed a huge difference going from 1 to 2 gb and a smaller difference going to 3 gb

This is in Vista though. With XP, 2 GB should be about perfect

Well, I have an Athlon DualCore 2,8 GHz, 2 GB DDR RAM and GeForce 7600 graphic card and I think that will be enough

Yes, that's easily enough to play EB

If you'e experiencing great lag, try turning off campaign shadows and changing the color to 16-bit. It will likely produce noticeable results.

Oh yeah, another big one is 'follow AI Characters'. Don't, unless you want your turns to take FOREVER(once your spies and diplomats have discovered a decent portion of the map).

    @Charge

He's referring to priority. If you set the program to a higher priority, it will make sure it's RAM needs are taken care of before those of a lower priority.

has anyone noticed that the characters on the campaign map appear to be very shiny? also the units seem to be darker from certain angles on the battle map. i've set up my options the same way they where in 0.81 but its definently different.

I don't know....it was going to take me 40+ hours to download so I'm just going to DL it tomorrow at my Dads. He has cable, and it isn't available where I live.

The worst part is that I had it in my last apartment, and going back to Dial-Up suX0rs!

    Hello Bootsiuv,
by "???" I mean that this actually produce swaps, like I've had with Max Payne2. And it is always uncomfortable give high priority to heavy process...

btw, if topic is about hardware, have you bought up new rig?

Yes, I wouldn't recommend it. I don't prioritize, but my system doesn't lag in EB.
