EB installation validation

Just a side note, in RTW Gold RomeTW.exe is different and there is no Data\packs\patch_1.pak

Really? The exe is different? I've noticed that several are lacking the patch_1.pak (usually coupled with a changed descr_items.db), I was thinking it was a source of trouble. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll need a full listing from a working Gold installation then, and I don't have it. Would you care to make it for me? Just add " createlist" to the end of the line in the batch file that starts with java and run it. The checklist will then be written with the checksums of your files, and you can post it here.

In your list of solutions, you say to delete some "interfering files that Vista hides in its bowels." Could you please clarify, because I have all but given up downloading 1.0.

No, I can't because I don't have Vista. Some others with problems have found traces of EB/RTW/BI in some obscure places and deleted them, making the game work for them. If someone names the place these things are stored, I'll add it.
