How does one "turn off" flooding?- Floods: We have added code for floods (making flood-prone locations more likely to get them), but left it as a user-option since flooded provinces can be left with ineradicable movement penalties.

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image. - Stephen Hawking
I think Primus asked a legitimate question. If it's a "user-option" it would be nice to know how to enable or disable it. I'd want it disabled due to the permanent movement penalties.
it is disabled.

Just to clear things up: we did not enable flooding; as some people may experience irrevocable flooding: the land never dries up again. There was this screenshot about the south of Spain & Portugal being completely flooded and never turning back to normal again.
But if you would like to add floods to your game; there are some commented triggers which you simply need to un-comment in order for the floods to appear as they did in Vanilla. (With the risk of Atlantis, that is.)

Yes, they need to activate them themselves if they want them *but* if they choose to do so, the floods will occur in more accurate areas though - I spent a good deal of time placing them so that they would not occur in stupid areas.![]()

"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

On a related note, I've been Hayasdan for nigh on 25 years now, and I still haven't seen a single disaster happening to me, be it earthquake, plague or volcano, even though I'm right smack in the middle of the Elburz and there are 'smokestacks' all over my provinces. Not that I'm complaining about the lack of disasters, but i thought there would have been more...

The game doesn't notify you of disasters when they happen in other provinces you are unaware of via spies/soldiers/diplomats, *except* floods. But we disabled floods. So if volcanoes, plagues, or earthquakes are happening elsewhere, you won't know about it unless you have doodz there.
...or if you've turned off FOW.
