Thread: Possibility to turn of water effects?

  1. #1

Default Possibility to turn of water effects?

The water effects (clouds, etc.) on the campaign map extremely slow down my scrolling and unit movement. Is it possible to disable those?

    Thanks

Finding the textures in the EB folder; deleting those >> the game should default to the original Vanilla textures... But I am not sure of this.

likewise. turns take aaages. i ended my turn, went into the kitchen to grab a damn tasty granola snack bar (nice n crunchy) and i came back expecting to see my screen filled with turn updates. instead, it was still the AI's turn. dammit

The new water effect was made by modyfying 2 files sky_environment_summer.tga.dds and waves.tga.dds - the original ones are in the data\terrain\aerial_map\sea. To have the new files working within mod_folder we had to pack them in EB\data\packs\mod_0.pak. So to have the default sea you need to unpack the EB mod_0.pak, delete the new sky_environment_summer.tga.dds and waves.tga.dds and pack the rest files back.

Kind of completely oposite, but how do I get the clouds? I don't seem to have them

If you have the new water you should have the clouds, they aren't floating in the sky or w/e, just reflections on the water.

What do your mean stratmap or battle map?

How long have you played? On my PC the game starts to lag seriously when i activate the script, but it goes away if i finish the first turn. During play the game lags occasionlly but alway get back to normal after clicking end turn.

EDIT: Oh, and its the stratmap clouds, the relflections in the water. Its odd because I have the new water but not the clouds.

Vercingetorix's Xpak. Do a search on the TWC download section, it should still be around there somewhere.

It's old. Verily. I had one of those. They suck.

Either you haven't enabled the video option "reflections/glints", or then the clouds are implemented in the game by the means of pixel shaders, which the GeForce 4 series don't support.
