    well everyone- bad news-

i just got a new graphics card (the nvidia FX5500, 256 mb, PCI) and i tried to install it too. so step one to install the new graphics card was to uninstall the current one. so i unistalled my integrated card, as it said to do. HUGE MISTAKE!

so when i turned off my computer, put in the new graphics card, and hooked it up to the monitor, and turned it on. i got as far as the windows XP booting up screen. then it just went blank.......
i went into the BIOS to make sure it was running the new card and not trying to run the integrated card. it was running the new card.

and so far, my computer is gone, and with it, EB, and with it, this AAR that ive come to love so much.

i dont know what to do, as i had all my files on that computer and only had the very vital ones backed up.
not including my savegame file. i know i told MAA to back up his file, but i truthfully, i never thought it would happen to me.

so as of now, the future is in doubt. im getting a tech genius to try to fix it, but i dont know if he can. i contacted tech support by email, and im going to try by phone on monday, when phone tech support is open, if i dont get an answer sooner. the techie is coming tomorrow, so ill update the situation tomorrow, hopefully.

but everyone should expect the worst, and i really thank everyone on giving me such nice replies. you really made me love this game, and im definitely going to start a new AAR if indeed this AAR is dead......
    pray for me guys......

I think this shouldn't be much of a problem. I'm even pretty sure the techie will be able to fix this.

    So keep hope!

thanks for your comments everyone. its still in doubt, but if it comes to be that the AAR, along with the computer, is dead, i already found a nice computer with the Radeon HD 2600 XT video card, as well as 2 gb of RAM, and a 2.20 ghz Intel Core Duo processor, a 320 gb hard drive, and the best part- still has windows XP on it! and for only $759!

Stay calm soldier, reinforcements are on their way. Have you tried to boot from your Windows CD/DVD and proceed in "safe" mode? If that failed with your new card then you may try put your old card again and then fire up the system First form HD, and if that fails from CD.

(Forgive me, if you already know and tried this )

Your graphics card may be being set by windows at an incorrect refresh rate/screen resolution. You've got to reset it so that RTW plays at a monitor setting you support.

    ok guys-
    good news/bad news time........

    *good news- EB works!
*bad news- the only way i got it to work was by re-installing RTW and EB

*good news- i copied my savegame file
*bad news- it didnt work with the game, even after i changed everything in the new EB that i did in the old EB. must have missed a line or something

*bad news- this AAR is dead
*good news- i started another one- TBA very shortly which im sure you will enjoy

thank you very much for reading, and i hope you enjoy my new AAR as much as you have this one!
