whats does the campaign difficulty level affect and what do most people set it at in EB?
The amount of support AI receives
The aggressiveness of the AI towards the Human player
Autocalc results.
People play on VH mostly. If your computer is old and obsolete, Medium or Hard might be more suitable, if you can't handle the extreme lag.
What does his computer have to do with the difficulty can I ask?Originally Posted by d'Arthez
Shouldn't make a difference to your frame rate or load times (at least not a noticeable one, I assume that's what you mean by lag?)
Also I don't believe it changes the amount of financial support the AI receives, as AFAIK that's only governed by the EBBS_script (although I could be wrong).
The reccomended setting is VH, and the vast majority of players use that, if you have too much trouble with that no reason why you can't step down a level or two.
Cheers

The recommended difficulty settings are VH campaign/M battles. I personally like H/M

I think he means higher difficulty => more enemies => more guys on the battlefield => lower performance.

so auto calculate is influenced by the diff level? thats disapointing, though not this mods fault. i mostly auto calculate battles as i get bored actually playin out 2 or 3 battles each turn.
is there any way to mod very hard difficulty level influencing auto calc?
I believe hardcoded so no :(Originally Posted by tonedog
As far as having to fight silly battles just because the computer will probably lose them, I know what you're feeling, if you don't consider it too much of a cheat, personally that's what I think auto_win is there for.
I seem to remember reading a post by redmeth, who helps out with the money scripting for the AI, that the other factions should be financially capable on Hard in 1.0 so if you don't like the aggresiveness of the AI on Very Hard it should still be a challenge. Still play Very Hard myself though.
