I know this has come up a million times in the past week...but I cannot do a single thing to fix the Custom Battle EDU thing...I tried both methods and the best Roman units I notice are Syracusian Hoplites...

My question is that will there be a 1.0 b or something released soon that fixes the problem? Perhaps some of the units can be trimmed for each faction until there are only 100 per faction. It won't bother me much if the KH can no longer recruit Celtic shortswordsmen or Indian archers.

You literally just rename the custom EDU in rome - total war\EB\ folder, replace the one in the eb\data folder and away you go.

And no we are not going to trim down the number of units available to each faction. The fix does work, so you must be doing to wrong.
