Pontos Klerouchoi Phalangitai... Where are they?

Salve EB team,

First of all, for two days i can barely sleep and rest of my time planning my Pontos campaign strategy. Yesterday i was constructing a building named Satrapeia Philhellenike in my dream. EB has entered even in my dreams! :

I just want ask you a short and simple question. As a Pontos faction can i able to train "Klerouchoi Phalangitai". Because i have Ephebia Phrourike Kai Skeuotheke building in my capital Amaseia but i cannot see them even in my list and plus when click on next tier of the recruitment building i can see Chalkaspidai and the other elite units but there is no medium class "Klerouchoi Phalangitai".

Please help help me or guide me about this disturbing problem. My enemies come with Agemas, Klerouchos and other badass phalangites and elite troops. I can't save my country with the Pantodapoi Phalanges.

How does Pontos play? Neverp layed them, but as soon as my 1.0 EB is running I may give it a try....Cheers, Subedei

The unit does not represent katoikiai established by the Pontic kings, but phalangite katoikiai established by the Seleukids or Ptolemies and overtaken by Pontos. The regions where you can get them are Phrygia, Lydia, Syria, Phoenicia, and the a couple regions in lower Egypt. I think they're in the lvl 4 Regional MIC.

Thing is, for a Pontic king in the 3rd century to have any chance against the Seleukids, they really needed to use the military populations of Anatolia. So you've got the Galatians first, then some Thraikians in Bithynia, Hellenes in Pergamon and a few others, your reliable medium phalanx of Klerouchoi Phalangitai down in Phrygia and Lydia, your heavy cav in Kappadokia, and some more troops down in Karia and Lykia etc. Great unit list, but you gotta expand to get 'em.

Paullus, Sardis is mine and Homeland Province made by me. Pergamon (Satrapy 2), Halikarnassos (Satrapy 2) Ipsos (Home) and Side (Home) at west. East Sinope (Home), Amaseia (Home), Mazaka (Home), Tarsos (Home) and Antiocheia or Antioch (Home).

I mean can i able to recruit them in only Home Type I provinces or as a regional unit in Satrapies too. I guess they are Type I class troops and need at least Ephebic building.

By the way great unit list indeed Paullus. Anatolia just like melitng pot of different cultures. Celtic, Hellenic, Steppe, Persian. It makes a perfect army composition formula. You can create and practise tons of tactical varieties. Just need to use your imagination.

Subedei, playing as Pontos at Hard diffuculty (like me) dancing with the devil in hell. You just start with only one region. A small army, lack of resource plus two huge empires Ptolemaoi and Seleukids are surround your south. Rebels are so strong and have good units like Naked Wildmen (Ancyra). You have no credit to make a mistake. Every step should be thinked twice. You need to find weak points of your area and expand your territory for more cash flow and better troops.

If anyone wants to sweat and feel constant danger i strongly recommend them to play as Pontos.

Attack the Seleukid first, capture Mazaka first then move to the west Anatolia and capture Ipsos and Sardis

Oh...and yeah, you'll do better to build type III and IV gov't as Pontos in most cases. Type 2's will also get a good mix of regional and factional units, since Pontos can build higher regional MICs in their I and II gov'ts than other factions can. Something like:

That may not quite be right, but its something like that. And as long as we're talking about all the awesomeness in Anatolia...any thoughts on the Uazali and Keltohellenikoi? There are several more Anatolian units en route, too.

they do indeed

c'mon bring them on Paullus.
i highly recommend Pontus to whoever havent tried it. it rocks big time and challenging as only very few other factions out there.
