There is a setting somewhere that keeps the bluscreen message on-screen until you reset the computer manually so you can see what the error message is. If you're able, try Googling this message and you'll probably find quite a few people with similar issues and a variety of solutions. I had this problem a while back and found these messages to be largely unhelpful - the only solution that worked was to update BIOS and mobo drivers.

Your best bet would be to find out what motherboard you have and give it a shot. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that, the tools I used to find out what I had are long gone from my PC.

Bluescreen is very rare, and usually means you have some hardware problem. EB 1.0 requires more memory than 0.8x, so perhaps that is causing it. You could run memtest on it overnight to check.

You could also run scandisk on the harddisk in question, including checking for bad sectors, however this will take a long time to complete, so should not be started unless you're not going to use your computer for a while.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

You have to change a setting in Windows XP, then it will show the error message in the bluescreen and not automatically restart. Once you have that error description it is much easier to find out what the problem may be.

Problem is: what setting? Never had such things with my own gear.

In windows XP it's in control panel -> system

Now, I have a Danish version of windows so I'm not 100% sure of the names in the English version, but it's definitely in the tab called advanced, and then it's the third button from the top. On the lower half of that page should be a box with "Restart automatically" (or somesuch) which you can untick, so that windows does not automatically restart, but stays at the blue screen until you manually restart the computer.
